3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jackl (764) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 25, 2012
Bottle from the legendary Kris Wines. Pours a clear brown color with a small light brown head. The nose is chestnut, caramel, some bitter hops and acidic urine. The taste is caramel malts, some wet hay tang. Light strawberry fruits. The finish is pleasingly dry and a bit woody. The body’s medium to light, the carbonation soft. Overall, not a bad beer. It’s a nice play on a bitter, the cheesy hop character of this beer is a refreshing addition to the mix.

Cask conditioned at The Shoulder of Mutton, Wantage, Oxon. Copper with white head. Full fruity bitter, lots of depth, hoppy, bright, some citricity in the flavour, crisp and really quite decent.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Leighton (4100) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 11, 2012
Bottle at home in London. Pours clear, golden-brown with a soft, foamy white head. Doughy, lightly toasty malt aroma, light berries and grass. Wow, flavor is actually quite impressive. It reminds me of SNPA a bit. Mild toasted malts, grass, faint orange rind, some bread. Light to medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Perfect balance. Finish has just enough bitterness to keep you wanting more, with further - but understated - toasty and bready malts, some toasted grass, very mild pine. Quite an excellent beer overall.

Cask gravity, Leicester BF, 08/03/12. Murky copper with a fine swirl. Sulphurous English aroma. Watery with sesame notes, no hops, bitterness without flavour. Late rally of sesame. Disappointing and vegetal.

Cask gravity at Green Berry Walmer. Brown slight haze. Lasting beige head. Some farty yeast. Quite malty in the mouth. Decent malt and biscuit in mouth. I mean it is a bitter that isnt that bitter on the finish. Some dry tingle.

[330ml bottle, London Fields Brewery] Opaque brown pour, thin white lacing. Malty, caramel aroma – but with a slightly sharp pine edge to it. Fruity, yeasty flavour. Throughout, more hop content in evidence than the other London Fields beers. Dry, fruity hop finish. Good stuff [03122011]

Thanks Rich for sharing this bottle. Pours a light golden brown colour with a lacy beige head. Aroma is nice and hoppy with pine, passion fruit, grass and biscuity malt. Similar flavours, a little bitter, with mild carbonation. My favourite of the 4 London Fields beers we tried tonight.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 shoulderbroken (587) - Tokyo, JAPAN - SEP 25, 2011
Bottle at brewery open day. Translucent browny gold colour with a nice creamy white head from careful pouring. Aroma is bit floral, and bit hoppy. Also biscuity malty. Interesting feeling in mouth. Nice mix of flavours, and the obligatory bitter finish. My favourite of their beers on the day.
