2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 jackl (2596) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 12, 2012
Bottle from the brewery @ home. Pours a slightly hazy light golden color with a massive, rocky white head. The nose is of light honeyed grains, some orange and syrup. Rainwater. The taste is slightly skunked light peachy hops, zippy cereal grains, light honey. Saaz. Light finish. Easy to drink, active carbonation. Overall, OK. One complaint I do have about this beer is its freshness - I bought this beer directly from the brewery quite recently, and find it’s nearly 6 weeks past its bbf date. A brewery that takes pride in its product should absolutely not be doing something like that to its customers. While it may have been an honest mistake, I’ll certainly now be checking their bottles when I’m there.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 shoulderbroken (1145) - Tokyo, JAPAN - APR 9, 2012
Keg at the brewery a while ago. Slightly darker colour than the lager, getting towards amber, but still fairly yellow. White frothy head. Aroma is a little bit creamy, and a touch grainy. Little bit prickly in the mouth. Crisp yet creamy finish. Quite nice, but a bit unremarkable.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Leighton (6961) - London, ENGLAND - APR 2, 2012
Bottle at home in London. Pours a lightly hazy yellow with a fine, foamy white head. Aroma has some lightly toasted grass, dough bread, some straw. Light to medium sweet flavor with crispy cereal, grassy bitterness, some lightly toasted bread, fresh grains. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with a modest hop bite, slight metal and citric tang, lasting grass, some toasted cereal, bread and grain. Not bad overall.
