3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle @ World Cup Brasil Tasting. Cheers to Hallinghansen. Pours cloudy dark golden with a small creamy head. Lots of hops. Pine, grapefruit and yeast. The yeast is a tad too muddy. Some phenolic notes. Rubber and dust. Bitter hoppy finish.

Pint in Shoreditch, appropriately enough. Lovely rich brown colour and smooth sipping taste. Dangerously drinkable for 6% too. Will be looking out for it again...

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Appearance is burnt amber, with a nice haze. One finger off-white head which lasts. Aroma- grapefruit and orange, creamy malts, fruity hops. Taste- quite a lot of malt here, very bitter, almost roasty, burnt toast with marmalade, bitter fruits, orange peel, some grapefruit, medium to full mouthfeel and a bit creamy. Pretty good IPA.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
More pine than citrus from the hops. Heavy in the glass. Lots of sediment but it tastes fresh. A solid IPA but not exciting one way or another. Would be happy to see it on tap in my local.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A pint at The Pommeler’s Rest, London.
At the Wetherspoons rate of 2.75, plus my CAMRA discount, I’ll be coming back for this IPA again, and probably again. It isn’t a great IPA, but it’s a good one, and the price makes it really tempting.
Pours a beautiful brownish golden, with a decent head that hung around for a while.
A bit grassy on the nose, salty caramel but crisp.
Tastes good. Malty and bitter, brilliantly balanced.
London Fields hasn’t impressed me much before, but this IPA is a winner.
