Hazy amber beer. Good pale cream coloured head. Palate is soft and somewhat over dry. Mild creamy malt. A little bitter orange fruit and a touch of aniseed. Very dry finish. Good flavour but too dry.

Bottle at Leighton’s Euro Semi-Final tasting, which I picked up at an Oddbins. It pours hazy amber, with a decent beige head. The nose is sweaty, citrus pith, pear and wood. The taste is citrus pith, soapy lemon, brown bread, leather, resin, spice and sweet malt. Some alcohol warmth is apparent towards finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. A decent IPA.

Bottle at the Semi-Final Tasting, London. Pours lightly hazy amber with a soft, white foam head. Mild melony and light, ripe citrus nose. Light to medium sweet, some light toasted malts, mild grass, some earth. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Faint warmth to finish, some light resinous pine, a bit of earth, some orange rind. Not bad.

Bottle at the brewery open day. IPA Apollo pours a startlingly deep red color with a small white head. I’ve never seen such a color in an IPA! On appearance alone, I would have guessed this was a bitter. The nose is strawberry malts, watermelon and light seagrass. The taste is sweet caramel maltiness, red apple skin. Some grapefruit citrus and watermelon. The finish is light dry hoppiness. Soft carbonation. Smooth. Decent.
