COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pioneer is a rotator of new never-brewed-before recipes. The first one, Yellow Rose, is a single malt / single hop concoction using a caboodle (technical term for a large amount of malt) of Weyermann Pilsener Malt and a new hop released in 2012 called Mosaic (HBC 369). It is a daughter of Simcoe (YCR 14), one of our favorite hops. Mosaic was used for bittering, flavoring, and aroma in the kettle; it was also massively dry hopped. We are quite pleased with the beer. A chalk-white head with a very clean malt backbone, as one would expect from German pilsener malt. The hops impart strong grapefuit and blueberry flavor and aroma. Quite an interesting brew!

Pours a hazy golden orange with a thick white head. Aroma of grapefruit and grain. Taste is sweet malt bitter grapefruit. Very cool play between the sweetness of the malt and the bitter citrus.

Hay Merchant, Houston tap: Pours golden with a wwhite head. Aroma is a combination of citrus, resin, flowers, and overall very wet. Other people say dank, and I would not disagree. The bitterness hits you well without having the beer lose any of its nice flavorful hop characteristics. Better than the other APA of theirs I had.

Draft. Aroma is hoppy and almost berry. Appearance is a clear gold with a foamy, white top. Taste is a hop dank that starts sweet. Very interesting. Palate is a light hop bitter. Overall, a great beer. Would buy again fo sho. This beer makes me wonder how they can make a beer this good when their ipa is so bad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Canít believe I forgot to rate this one the past several months. It has become my favorite session IPA in the Houston area and I seek it out intentionally. The single-hopped approach with Mosaic is what this IPA lover has sought in an almost perfect blend. Itís a citrus bomb with a whole lotta dank, and a clean, balanced merging of the malt. All grapefruit and berry to me, with a lot of resin. The closest thing in flavor, to me, is Founders All Day IPA, except that I prefer Yellow Rose for the 6.5%! Damn near perfect for my tastes. What will these folks be doing once they quit their day jobs and go full-time?? I canít wait to see.

On draught at Anvil Bar & Refuge. This beer pours a clear bright gold color with a medium fluffy white head that diminishes gradually. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops and malt. Light to medium body with flavors of citrusy hops, toasted malt and pine. The finish is mildly bitter with a short herbal hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Clear golden with white froth. Aroma of grapefruit and dank. Taste full of grapefruit; bitter and fruity. Medium body, dry. Nice.
