Initially Pioneer I: Yellow Rose, later on became a regular.

A SMaSH, Single Malt and Single Hop, IPA using a caboodle (technical term for a large amount of malt) of malt and a new hop released in 2012 called Mosaic (HBC 369). It is a daughter of Simcoe (YCR 14), one of our favorite hops. Whole cone Mosaic is used for bittering, flavoring, and aroma in the kettle; it is also massively dry hopped. The beer is named after a Texas Heroine.

Tasting notes: chalk-white head with a very clean malt backbone. The hops impart strong grapefruit, pineapple, and blueberry flavor and aroma. A strong beer that is extremely quaffable.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate citrus, light tropical fruits, pine, light dank hops, and grapefruit. It pours a hazy dull golden-orange with a small white head that fades to a minimal film outlined by a thin ring. The flavor starts with moderate citrus and tropical fruits. The finish has moderate grapefruit, pine, and light dank hops. It’s light-medium bodied with light-moderate carbonation.

Bottle thanks to DJ. Poured to snifter. Aroma is very earthy and Danny up front with light citrus quality. Hazy orange pour. Large tight white head that laces well. Taste is very pine and earth forward. Interesting. Not much diesel or onion. Decent.

Keg at the Whip In - Austin. Pours hazy gold with a thick, creamy white head. Clean citrusy hops in the nose, some tangerine, a little pale malt, melon. Light to medium sweet flavour with low bitterness, ripening citrus, more tangerine, a little meringue, dough, melon, peach. Medium bodied with delicate carbonation. Finishes with further juicy citrus character, pale bread, light pine, more peach, grapefruit, tangerine. Great stuff. Really smooth, fresh and drinkable.

On tap. Really nice, big bright bold flavor. Definitely a little bit of citrus bit to it, has the Mosaic vibe to it. Really clean and crisp, not too heavy. Really nice.

Lone Pint Yellow Rose is, in my opinion, one of the top three best beers brewed in Texas. The recipe is simple but the result is deliciously complex. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
