COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Initially Pioneer I: Yellow Rose, later on became a regular.

A SMaSH, Single Malt and Single Hop, IPA using a caboodle (technical term for a large amount of malt) of malt and a new hop released in 2012 called Mosaic (HBC 369). It is a daughter of Simcoe (YCR 14), one of our favorite hops. Whole cone Mosaic is used for bittering, flavoring, and aroma in the kettle; it is also massively dry hopped. The beer is named after a Texas Heroine.

Tasting notes: chalk-white head with a very clean malt backbone. The hops impart strong grapefruit, pineapple, and blueberry flavor and aroma. A strong beer that is extremely quaffable.

Hazy yellow pour with a white head. Tropical fruity nose. Citrus, grapefruit peel almost no bitterness. Really nice.

Bottle shared at Dark Lord Day 2015 (Munster, IN). Pours a well hazed amber orange color, a bit darker overall with gentle glow onto the edges. Cakey off white head atop is sizable, good retention and stick around as a soapy film laces the glass well. Aromas are lovely and hop driven, fruity and bitter as biting florals and earth cut through jabs of tropical fruit, pithy grapefruit and juice, jabs of grass. Dry bready malts and cleaner malt body don’t interfere as jabs of mango and pineapple fruit dance in and out. Initial is lighter end of the fold, firmly bitter as it offers some potent fruity life to cut through. Tropical fruit, pineapple and citrus meet dank bitter hops. A bit weedy, earthy and bready as we move on. Citrus rind oils, earth, as a potent bitter backend steps back up to the plate. Some gentle fruity life, sweetness hit gently in the middle as a firmer bitter finish returns. A nice complex and well suited hop profile here, fresh and punchy hops that are addicting. Nice stuff. While the pour isn’t the prettiest, the beer delivers the goods.

This was a very good beer, it was light and very crisp that had the good hop notes and the malts really coming forward. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark hazy orange body, medium to large off-white head, soapy lacing. Nose is amazing with dank mango, papaya, pineapple, grass, pine, and grapefruit. Flavor is similar, if not just a hair less pungent. Medium bodied, smooth carbonation, lively bitterness, juicy, and semi-dry throughout. One of the better IPAs I’ve had recently. The real deal.

Tap (cask) at Meddlesome Monk in Dallas with commonshawn. Bumped pint glass. Appears more vibrant than expected from a cask pour. Bright yellow/golden with bubbly/frothy head. Aroma is vibrant fruit and hops with strong grapefruit and pineapple. Taste follows suit although with an almost blueberry essence. Hops definitely present with the lingering cloying aftertaste expected from a hop centric ale. Freshness to this one that I really enjoy. Interesting fruity IPA. Worth a try if in Texas.
