Pioneer is a rotator of new never-brewed-before recipes. The first one, Yellow Rose, is a single malt / single hop concoction using a caboodle (technical term for a large amount of malt) of Weyermann Pilsener Malt and a new hop released in 2012 called Mosaic (HBC 369). It is a daughter of Simcoe (YCR 14), one of our favorite hops. Mosaic was used for bittering, flavoring, and aroma in the kettle; it was also massively dry hopped. We are quite pleased with the beer. A chalk-white head with a very clean malt backbone, as one would expect from German pilsener malt. The hops impart strong grapefuit and blueberry flavor and aroma. Quite an interesting brew!

On draught at Anvil Bar & Refuge. This beer pours a clear bright gold color with a medium fluffy white head that diminishes gradually. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops and malt. Light to medium body with flavors of citrusy hops, toasted malt and pine. The finish is mildly bitter with a short herbal hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Aroma is hop forward - grapefruit. Pours a clear light amber with a rapidly disappearing white head and minimal lacing. The taste is grapefruit and pine. Medium body with crisp carbonation. Overall, a nicely done APA. Would drink again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Untapped fest. Orange pour with a white head. The aroma and flavor are both dominated by hops. I get some wonderful grapefruit notes as well as a hint of pine. There is also some biscuit malt notes that keep the bitterness from being too hight. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Nice pale ale.

On tap @ Untapped Fest. Bright golden pour with a fluffy white head. Smells great - grapefruit, pine, tropical fruits. A bit surprised this is a single hop brew as it’s quite complex. Slight bitter finish.

Smells a little off to me but a good starter for IPAs. Nothing to overwhelming at first. Subtle after taste and good finish down to the last drop. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
