3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 GarrettB (787) - La Jolla, California, USA - APR 14, 2013
December 28th, 2011 - Hot on the heels of Lone Tree Brewing’s Oatmeal Stout came the Outta Range Pale Ale, with the promise of a vista full of hops, and maybe something a grade more intense than another hoppy offering on the menu. Although this brew kicks up a rich head, the smell is faint. Fevered sniffing uncovers a little pine resin and a nice hops blend, but the Outta Range is aromatically muted. The carbonation is a noisy bustle on the tongue, blocking out any other flavor or sensation until the mid-taste, where light touches of honey, apple and a faint hops bitterness blend. There’s a lot of sugar in here, and less hops than I had hoped, and not enough alcohol to push back against the apple and honey flavors.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 adnielsen (6200) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - DEC 2, 2012
Tap @ Lone Tree. Pours a murky, yellow orange appearance with a white head. Fairly spicy, piney, resiny, light citrus hoppy aroma. A bit chewy, bright liberty hoppy, somewhat spicy flavor. Nice stuff. Earlier Rating: 1/27/2012 Total Score: 2.6 Tap @ brewery. Cloudy, golden orange appearance with a small white head. Very earthy, herbal, a touch citrus hoppy aroma. Dull, earthy, tangy, barnyard (?), bitter flavor. Hmmm, maybe try a different combo of hops?
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 drjay44 (2130) - Salida, Colorado, USA - AUG 25, 2012
Taster. Pours a medium white head, over a slightly hazy gold (SRM 5) body...nose is light pine, citrus...taste is light toffee/caramel, light pine, with a more dominant citrus.....mouth feel medium, slightly sticky, carbonation low. The hop back bone is in ascendance over the malts, with the hops used becoming a bit in the "new age" direction. BJCP 7/3/12/4/6

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 notalush (4173) - Denver, Colorado, USA - DEC 30, 2011
Hazy orange pour - nose is very earthy, piney and dank - flavor is a bit sweet - lightly estery - but with loads of earthy simcoe hop flavor - woody - a bit of sweet orange and candied citrus peel - lightly peppery in the finish, with lingering sweetness - the hop flavor is nice, but overall the sweetness needs to be dialed down.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 onceblind (2535) - Denver, Colorado, USA - DEC 22, 2011
Slightly hazy, bright orange copper with a thin filmy head with good lacing. Pretty assertive hoppy aroma with some tropical bitter fruitiness, some pine resin, and perhaps some floral notes as well. Taste was much the same but has a certain resiny hop tone I wasn’t too big a fan of. There’s a hefty hop profile of floral, pine, and grapefruit tones. It’s not too bitter but it’s just resinous. Nice toffee malt backbone that stays a little quiet while the hops take the spotlight. Balanced, but is more like an IPA

Pour is hazy orange with thin white head at the brewery, aroma has notes of grass, pine, slight citrus oils, hints of caramel. Taste is some bitter grass and slightly astringent notes, hints of biscuit finishes a bit soapy. Ok.
