The inky night considers Cowboy in Black its friend. He is also our interpretation of the cult followed Black IPA style. A precarious balance of bitter hops and roasted malts allows you to taste beer’s most aggressive characters all in one very well balanced and tasty brew!

A quite nice black IPA. Pours a deep black with a thick tan head. Smells of hops, pineapple, grapefruit and a hint of coconut. Taste is well-balanced, quite creamy with some citrus, pineapple, and toasted marshmallow. Not too hoppy but perfect balance. Had in the bottle.

On tap at world of beer charlotte. Black with mocha lace web. Smoke in nose. Smokey very roasty with hops following closely.grows on me. A tad light mouthfeel for the style.

Bottle from Brent - thanks! Pours opaque black with a medium brown head, creamy with nice lacing. Aroma is roasty, pine, chocolate, ashtray, citrus. Flavor is the same, medium sweet and medium bitter. Full body and creamy; quite far on the stouty side of a BIPA, but a nice one just the same.

A deep dark IPA with a thin creamy brown head. In aroma, smooth chocolate malt over floral hops, lightly doughy. In mouth, loads of resinous floral hops with mercapto-ethanol, light sulfur notes, burned toasts, unbalanced.

Bomber from Bestway, Greensboro. Pours a near pitch black color with a large creamy brown head. Decent head retention. Aroma of strong chocolate, roast, herbal hops. The taste is roasted malts, chocolate, herbal hops, mild nuts and berries. Medium bodied, slight lingering bitterness. Solid beer.

From 22oz bottle. Dark brown with cream colored head. Fruity aroma. Combination of malt and fruit taste. An ok beer, but far from a very good one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This one does strike a nice balance between the roastiness and the hops. Roasted malt and bittersweet coffee is what you get first. That leads into a faint but balancing grassy and pine hop flavor. Bottle back from bestway. One of the better versions of this style I have had recently.

Bomber to pint (shared with the Mrs.; thanks Geoff). Looks good; an opaque, dull dark cola (almost black) with foamy beige head. Smells and tastes solid; some bitter hops, dark malt, roast, and chocolate. Nice and smooth on the palate. Good stuff!

Bottle. Pours black with a medium brown head. Roasty chocolate aroma as well as some pine and citrus. Medium sweet taste. Mild to medium bitter finish. Medium body, texture somewhat creamy. A little thicker than I would have liked, pretty good overall.

Draft. Nice looks. Starts out with a touch of some fruit like pomegranate but moves onto roasted malt taste. Bitter like a black coffee. Great lacing. Not bad ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
