2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap at the brewery recently. This used to be hoppier or maybe my palate has changed. Not really a "west coast pale ale" as stated on their board but still okay enough to have a couple. Clear amber pour thin khaki head. Aroma is caramel, butter and light stale hop. Hard to believe this is fermented w/ chico yeast as the diacetyl is a little aggressive at times.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from a 12oz bottle dated best before 8 May. 2013 into a lager glass. Tasting/rating done back-to-back with a Lagunitas Pale Ale.
The two couldn’t be more different for ones put in the same category. While the Lagunitas had a strong hop component and could pass for an IPA, the Lonerider has a strong sweet malt component and could (in a blind test) probably pass for a brown or amber ale. Dark for style, but not brown, this ale is a deep orange-amber color and clear, with a fine beige head that has great retention and leaves some sticky lacing on the glass. The aroma is moderately hoppy, and about as expected. The taste, however, has a strong, caramel, light and medium roast malt base that are more obvious than the relatively light hop component. Overall, mild bitterness by the finish. More malt, and caramel, in the finish and aftertaste than expected. Complex flavor components integrate nicely. Medium body; medium carbonation; semi-dry finish.
O: A complex and tasty APA that is way more malty than average for style. Adequate hops for style. Recommended, especially if you like both brown and PA styles.

2.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Liquid honey in appearance, leaning towards orange. A good bit of gum too. Inconsistently bubbled, lumpy off white head. Gentle floral hop aroma, with a bit of green leaf. Unfortunately, the pleasant aroma does not translate into a comparable flavor. Heavily resined light dry earth, and not much else; hops are covered by resin, and the potential for a crisp mouthfeel is nil.

Copper with white head. Lot of sediment floating around. Aroma of complex hops and citrus. Flavor has hops, citrus and a odd sweetness that I can’t place.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: DEC 16, 2012
Location: Nitro @ Revolution, 12/9/12
Aroma: This one has a fairly hoppy nose of citrus mostly, with some pine notes
Appearance: It pours a cloudy gold color with a small, lasting white head and heavy lace
Flavor: The flavor of this beer is lightly sweet, with a medium hoppy bitterness to it
Palate: It has a super creamy nitro-style feel to it, it is clean, smooth, and ends medium dry
This was my first and (so far) only beer from LoneRider, and I found it to be both interesting and enjoyable. They did a very nice job with this one. Good stuff.

12 ounce single bottle from the local Food Lion. Aroma is a floral hoppy scent, but not much else. Color is copper with a foamy head. Taste is nice with floral hops and a bit of a bite on the aftertaste. A well done beer.

Bottle---dirty straw color with a medium head. Nice aroma of citrus and pine. Citrus starts the taste followed with a solid base of caramel. Soft smack on the finish. Mixed 6 pack from Ingles.
