Shotgun Betty is a sexy, tough cowgirl who is always armed and dangerous. Don’t be fooled by her good looks, she will have you for an appetizer! That’s why we picked her to represent our Hefeweizen. Shotgun Betty is a wheat beer with a rich, banana-clove nose and refreshing dry finish. Sound good? Try one, But beware, once Betty gets a hold of you there is no escape.

Can opened at home, post-RATXV. Pours a slightly hazy yellow with large white head. Aroma is wet dog, banana and clove. Taste is sweet banana candy, stale malt, skunked a little it seems.

Bottle @ home, thanks to jcnielsen for sending! Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow appearance with a thin tan head. The aroma is fairly spicy (pepper, nutmeg, clove), and moderately fruity (lemon, banana, pear). Fairly high carbonation. A little goopy and somewhat overly sweet. Spritzy, banana, lemon flavor. Ehh.

Poured from the tap at the Biergarten in Charleston, SC into a pint glass. Aroma- Has a strong banana aroma with some yeast, very appealing (pun intended) Appearance- A murky amber with a small off-white head. Taste- An interesting hefeweizen flavor, i really dig the banana. Palate- A medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation. Overall- This is the second beer that I have had from this brewer and I need to take note. Both have been very strong, great flavor.

Can from Whole Foods Market in GA. Aroma is citrus, light banana, some spiced wheat/rye bread. Taste is pretty much the same... Very light and breezy which I really enjoyed. Not too sweet or floral, nice drying finish. Not a big Hefe fan but a fan of this one.

Draft sample at Cherry Blossom Beer & Wine fest, cloudy golden color with white head. Aroma notes of banana, wheat malt sweetness, bread, clove and yeasty notes. Taste adds some citrus (lemon/orange) and light spicy yeast notes. Light body, moderate carbonation, soft with yeasty wheat finish. Pretty standard hefe, easy drinking.

On tap. Not good looking, with a hazy brown body and a minimal head. The aroma is even less appealing. Redeemed by the flavor which is weird for style but modestly enjoyable. O: Weak offering from an otherwise recommended brewery.

Old rating. Yup, standard hefe. Wheat, grain, banana, some lemon. Non Offensive but forgettable.

Draft at Omega in Richmond, Va The beer poured a gold color with an off white head. The aroma of banana and wheat malt were evident. The wheat beer are not my cup of tea. The beer had a light body with soft carbonation. . . Finishes with sweet musty aftertaste.

Pour is cloudy with a creamy golden color. Not much head but a good amount of lace. Nose is bananas and some spices. Taste is much of the same. What sets this beer apart is its smooth mouth feel. It is really enjoyable to drink. When I first drank this beer years ago in my early craft beer snob life it changed my perception of what beer can be! This does the wheat beer style right!
