Shotgun Betty is a sexy, tough cowgirl who is always armed and dangerous. Don’t be fooled by her good looks, she will have you for an appetizer! That’s why we picked her to represent our Hefeweizen. Shotgun Betty is a wheat beer with a rich, banana-clove nose and refreshing dry finish. Sound good? Try one, But beware, once Betty gets a hold of you there is no escape.

Bottle - pour is a hazy orange yellow. Aroma is heavy yeast, wheat and spices. Flavor is LOTS of clove, some banana and yeast. I have lots of hefs, but this one kinda bored me. A lot of people love this here in NC but I wasn't blown away. -optemoz

Bottle: Thanks, Jeff! Pale, golden-yellow, super-hazy with a flimsy, wispy white head that doesn’t retain for very long. Aroma is strange & kind of off-putting... Wet dog, sweaty & moldy socks, but not in the "funky Brett" kind of way. Either way, not acceptable for the style. Mildew, sulfur, yeast, lighter notes of mint, clove, & bubblegum. Taste isn’t as bad as it smells but is still quite unimpressive. Astringent apple skins & lemon zest, bready yeast, & a little clove in the finish. Thin, missing the normal "chunky" body a hefeweizen should have. Steer clear of this one.

@ Whole Foods Market / Asheville NC --- Cloudy golden amber with a lot of rising effervescence, light head cover, strings of lace. Taste is malt and wheat with an un-ripe banana and clove joining in quickly. The green banana thing continues to a fizzy bitter finish that drops off quickly. Overall, not much to enjioy.

Pint on tap. Lightly hazy golden with a small ring of foam. Nose has lemon, crackers and a hint of spicy banana. Taste is lemon and wheat. Light body is balanced and has medium-high carbonation. Another not-so-great American attempt at a hefe, though I’ve had much worse.

Bottle. Pours clear gold with white head. Nose and taste of banana, clove, wheat malt, sheet metal and grain. Lighter bodied. Finishes mostly metal.

Well this is mostly an average hefeweizen, cloudy orange appearance with strong orange and banana flavor, smooth almost full body but also some grainy texture. A little bitterness. Weak banana aroma. The distinguishing aspect of this beer is its odd dry finish, which I did not really appreciate. Almost finishes like a dry white wine. Not bad, but not flawless either IMHO. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

On tap. Honey golden pour with thin white ring. Aroma of banana, bubblegum, cloves, and grains. Taste of cloves, banana, and grains. Nice carbonation. Light and refreshing. Just a typical hefe. Nothing exciting at all.

This is my first hefeweizen. Aroma is banana-clove as advertised. Cloudy orange color. No head or lace. Lots of carbonation however. Mild clove initial taste fades to bland sugary aftertaste. Not pleasant. I hope all hefeweizens aren’t like this or I won’t be back.
