Shotgun Betty is a sexy, tough cowgirl who is always armed and dangerous. Don’t be fooled by her good looks, she will have you for an appetizer! That’s why we picked her to represent our Hefeweizen. Shotgun Betty is a wheat beer with a rich, banana-clove nose and refreshing dry finish. Sound good? Try one, But beware, once Betty gets a hold of you there is no escape.

Bottle. Poured a hazy medium yellow- orange with an average sized white creamy head that lasted quite a while and produced excellent lacing. The aroma was robust with yeast and had a mild strawlike malt scent with notes of banana, clove and some citrus. It tasted lightly sweet with hints of banana and some spice at first then became very yeasty with a nice citrus note at the end. Mouthfeel was light to medium in body and very creamy in texture with a flat carbonation. Overall this is a good hefeweizen, very refreshing and quite pleasing to the palate.

Can. Pours a hazy orange body with a small fizzy white head that faded very quickly. The nose is nicely fruity with some banana and light clove notes over a yeasty wheat malt base. The taste is a little weaker than the aroma comes across. There’s a bit more caramel maltiness and sweetness than I would like, the pale wheat doesn’t come through enough. The yeast isn’t really driving the flavor, and I think that’s what makes a good Hefe. Medium bodied with a slight yeast slurry consistency. This one’s a little heavy and bland for me.

Pours a hazy golden orange from the can with fluffy white head that dissipates to leave moderate lace. Aroma of German yeast esters and wheat. Taste follows, definitely to style, a little thin though. Solid for what it is.

Can, cloudy golden brown with a thin head, yeasty and lightly banana nose. Initially soft and faintly milky on the palate, then turning a little crisper as a moderate hoppy bitterness cuts in. Sweet fruity undertones linger beneath the yeasty body with its hoppy edges. Recognisably a Hefe, but with a touch of pale ale about it, yet not so strongly flavoured as many of the Hopfenweisse.

rollinsr (538) - Atlanta, GEORGIA - AUG 12, 2015
Pours slightly hazy straw colored with a wealth of smooth white head. Aroma is lightly spiced with bananas and wheat. The yeast is also fairly discernible on the nose. Flavor is relatively smooth and light. The beer itself is not bad in any way but there feels like there is something lacking. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cloudy dark blond color with compact head. The banana aroma and flavor is very strong, the mouthfeel is quite sweet, not much bitterness.
Nicely made.
