A temptress that will seduce you, but leave your wallet feeling empty. Sweet Josie is crafted in the American Brown style. This is a complex beer balancing a nice hop bitterness with a generous amount of chocolate and aromatic malts.

Bottle. The pour was a hazy medium brown with a large (2-3 finger) white rocky head that pretty much lasted throughout and had some fair streaky lacing. The aroma was of a dark roasted malt, an earthy hop and a light leathery yeast with notes of milk chocolate, a mild coffee odor, a touch of caramel and a bit of nuttiness. The taste was nice and malty and a bit nutty with a hint of chocolate in the beginning and then a pronounced hoppiness took hold with hints of coffee and maybe a little brown sugar towards the end. The flavor hung around for an average amount of time after the swallow letting the hoppy malt taste linger for a little while. Mouthfeel was just about medium in body with the texture being quite creamy and a tad dry with an almost prickly carbonation. Overall a fantastic Brown Ale that had just the right amount of bitter sweetness and a surprising hoppiness at the end.

Chocolate malt aroma. Nice body and full flavored. Has a descent amount of hops to balance the malt but it is not too bitter. Overall a nice brown. Maybe slightly on the bitter side actually. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark amber in color with a moderate brown head. Aromas of caramel and roast with some fruit. Flavors of caramel and roast with a bit of floral.

Can. Pours a clear dark brown body with a small fizzy light brown head. The nose is chocolaty, tossed, and lightly roasty maltiness with a slight leafy hoppiness. Some lighter notes of coffee and maybe a hint of burnt rubber. The flavor is OK, a little bit of that burnt rubber that I got in the aroma, but it’s not horrible. More toasted and slightly nutty maltiness, fairly heavy sweetness, minimal hops, though there’s a light bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied and on the clingier side with soft carbonation.

Pours up dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is caramel with some roasted nuts and toffee. Taste is malty and sweet with caramel, roasted nuts, and a hint of dry bakers chocolate. A very good brown ale

Malty with caramel and some bready grain. Earthy with a bite. A bit of hops that comes through more in the finish.

A sweet malt aroma, pours a clear reddish brown color with a short lasting tan well laced head. A sweet malt taste with a watery body and a short lasting malt finish.
