COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Long Ireland’s first release. This beer is old world Irish ale; this isn’t designed to be an Irish Red. It’s brewed with ingredients based on how beer was brewed a few hundred years ago in Ireland. Since Ireland is an island, ingredients weren’t always readily available. The Irish brewers used ingredients that they were able to get locally. This beer is made with 4 different malts and a big serving of honey and oats that give it a sweet but smooth flavor. Its 5% a.b.v. And 20 I.b.u.’s.

Formerly at 6.4% and brewed at New England until the opening of their own plant.

Draft at beer authority. Deep orangish red in color with a little off white head. Malty toasty aroma. Toasty, nutty notes. Light hoppy malty flavor. Full bodied. Dry finish. Very drinkable.

Bottle - bomber. Pours clear deep reddish amber with a medium quickly diminishing beige head, dissipates to a ring but laces fairly well. Aroma is very malty, nutty, toffee, caramel. Flavor follows, medium sweet, no real bitterness, malts coming at you from every direction, some honey as well. A bit of a lingering odd, a bit tart, finish, but otherwise not so bad. Medium body.

Poured 2 - 12 oz bottles into a tall .5 liter glass. The only impressive thing about this beer is the color. This beer’s color belies its flavor, making this a very disappointing ale. There was no head through the entire 6 pack. Barely an aroma. A very simple and unmemorable ale that lacks any malt or hops. This brew relies on its honey components, which in the end wind up tasting like tin. I would not buy this again.

Bomber at home. Aroma of caramel malts, figs, raisins. A simple, flavorful, and very well balanced clear amber ale. Notes of berries and toffee. Quick, crisp, finish. Slight acidity.

My wife picked this up on a whim in Long Island, and we enjoyed it at a party with a New Yorker, and it was okay. Analyzing it however, I find it just above average. The aroma is sweet, and it looks like a ale (it is) in the glass. The taste is a little more bitter than I’d like, but very drinkable. For the palate, no distinct flavors come out and grab me. Overall it’s a good ale, but it’s nothing special.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy amber with thin head that dissipates to nothing quickly. No lace. Nose of sweet brown malts, toffee, dough. Medium body. Ok for the style. I would not have again.

Tap. Foamy white head with clear light amber color. Aroma of floral hops and toasty malts. Flavor was malty wheat and a little bit of walnut, balanced with some piney hops. Bitter finish. Medium body.
