3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 italarican (1045) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 26, 2010
Tap at the 2010 LIC Craft Beer Festival. Copper pour with standard white head. Faint aroma with notes of some grain and malt; I think this was served too cold. Flavor of grains, honey, and a touch of styrofoam. The honey gives it a slight stickiness in the finish, which is the best part of the beer. Crisp and tingly on the palate.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 ben4321 (2979) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - SEP 12, 2010
Location: Sampled at the NY Brewfest on Governor’s Island, 6/19/10
Aroma: The nose has some caramel, toffee, toast, yeast, and a bit of spice
Appearance: This is an amber-brown colored beer with a small tan head
Flavor: The taste is fairly malty, somewhat sweet, lots of caramel, and a bit of spice
Palate: It has a light-medium body, fairly sessionable, and drinks pretty nicely
Overall Impression:
A halfway decent Irish Ale. Nothing overly special, but a solid example of the style in my opinion. Overall, I thought the beers I tried from this brewery at the festival were pretty good, and I look forward to getting a hold of some more of their stuff in the future.
