COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Long Ireland’s first release. This beer is old world Irish ale; this isn’t designed to be an Irish Red. It’s brewed with ingredients based on how beer was brewed a few hundred years ago in Ireland. Since Ireland is an island, ingredients weren’t always readily available. The Irish brewers used ingredients that they were able to get locally. This beer is made with 4 different malts and a big serving of honey and oats that give it a sweet but smooth flavor. Its 5% a.b.v. And 20 I.b.u.’s.

Formerly at 6.4% and brewed at New England until the opening of their own plant.

Draft. Pours amber orange with an off white head. Toasty and honey malty aroma with light floral hops. The flavor has light floral hops, pale malts, some honey sweetness, and toasted grains. Nice enough.

Deeo brown color. Some red. Real crisp with some rye and hay¥ not sure what an irisj ale means, but this is not bad. Not as good as smithwicks

Tap at the 2010 LIC Craft Beer Festival. Copper pour with standard white head. Faint aroma with notes of some grain and malt; I think this was served too cold. Flavor of grains, honey, and a touch of styrofoam. The honey gives it a slight stickiness in the finish, which is the best part of the beer. Crisp and tingly on the palate.

Location: Sampled at the NY Brewfest on Governor’s Island, 6/19/10

Aroma: The nose has some caramel, toffee, toast, yeast, and a bit of spice
Appearance: This is an amber-brown colored beer with a small tan head
Flavor: The taste is fairly malty, somewhat sweet, lots of caramel, and a bit of spice
Palate: It has a light-medium body, fairly sessionable, and drinks pretty nicely
Overall Impression: A halfway decent Irish Ale. Nothing overly special, but a solid example of the style in my opinion. Overall, I thought the beers I tried from this brewery at the festival were pretty good, and I look forward to getting a hold of some more of their stuff in the future.

Sampled at the Long Ireland tent at Brewfest NYC 2010 on Gov Island. A solid irish ale with some decent flavor that shows promise for sessionability.

Draft sample at NY Brew Fest 2010. Pours amber with a thin off-white head. Aroma of cinnamon, sweet malts, and bready/yeasty notes. Thin bodied with a sweet, soft palate. Average Irish ale. I concur with Pwn3d. The standard Long Ireland Pale Ale was much better.

Sampled during Brew Fest 2010 on Governor’s Island. I didn’t like this as much as the Pale Ale, which I can’t find on RB. This was much more mellow, with some nice honey notes. Good brewery description, not your traditional Irish Red.

Bottle at Pilsner Pete’s RBSG. Nice all around beer. Pours a dark reddish brown. Nose is floral hops, sweet caramel. Taste is pleasantly hoppy with a touch of juniper.
