COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This full bodied amber ale is modeled after the "altbiers" of Dusseldorf, Germany. Our top fermenting yeast and cold finishing temperature result in a complex, yet clean, full flavor.

Pleasing aroma of caramel, cookie dough, and light piney hops rises right to the nose. The color is an orange/light brown, a little light in color for an altbier. The flavor has a slight mettalic quality, but otherwise follows the aroma, caramel, bread. The finish is more like a noble hop bittering, somewhat fleeting, but clean. The mouthfeel is thin/medium. Not bad at all. Not as enjoyable as its big brother, the Double bag, but good.

12 oz bottle while vacationing in NY. It has fairly light yet pleasant aroma. Caramel cookie, lemony grass, and malted cereal grains. A smaller pour with a standard white head, light-medium body, and honey amber color. This one overall is pretty well balanced but nothing crazy, with similar notes in the aroma and flavor. Notes of lemon grass, toffee-caramel cookie, grass, Euro/German grains, and a nice bitter finish. It also has a light body but not watery, and without took much kick as well. Not bad, nothing crazy, but quite drinkable.

(Sample Date: 6/27/2009 Source:Other) Clear amber golden with a light graininess and caramel in aroma. Caramel and a light graininess in flavor, dry with some light of earthy hops. No fruitiness and very close to lager profile. Finish is medium with light residual bitterness.

Though not my favorite style, this tastes like an altbier should--which is great, for an American brew! No frills, this is straight altbier.

Nice smooth beer, medium bodied with pretty good sweet hop flavor. Hops are not very strong, and not in the least bit bitter. Pours a copper color with minimal white head. Aroma is nothing great, similar to that of a pale lager. This is a pretty descent beer, but nothing special.

A solid beer all-around. Nice color, medium head. Good, balanced flavor. Session it.

On tap at 507. Pours a dark brown body with light off white head. The aroma is malt and some grassy hop. Taste is malt, sugar, and caramel. Not a big fan.

Pours amber into the glass, with honey hues... a dissipating thin head leaves no real lace of which to speak. The nose is grassy, that’s about it. Flavor-wise, there isn’t much going on here. Some yeast and doughy notes with some melony citrus mid-palate, and a metallic, earthy bitter to the finish. Although it may sound complex, it is extremely unilateral and devoid of substance. No complexity here, as the mouthfeel is watery with zesty carbonation levels. All-in-all, this one goes down for a "thanks for trying".
