COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Long Trail Ale is a full-bodied amber ale modeled after the “Alt-biers” of Düsseldorf, Germany. Our top fermenting yeast and cold finishing temperature result in a complex, yet clean, full flavor. Originally introduced in November of 1989, Long Trail Ale beer quickly became, and remains, the largest selling craft-brew in Vermont. It is a multiple medal winner at the Great American Beer Festival.

On tap at a sports bar in Waltham, Mass. Reminds me of Yuengling. Amber in color with little to no head. Not much lacing left on glass. Aroma and taste moslty roasted malts with some faint hop aroma. Overall not too bad. Would not seek out on a regular basis.

Part of their mixed pack on my trip to Maine. Pours a clean dark amber colour with a light beige head, good retention and lots of dirty lacing. Grainy dark cereal grain with hints of grassy hops. The taste has the same darker grain malts but with the hops being a little bolder, creating decent bitterness and dryness. A decent Altbier all around that is made for a session.

A crystal clear amber with a thin beige head. Crisp clean green herbal aroma with a sold maltiness in a supporting role. The taste is bready dark toffee malts with a crisp bitter finish. Nicely done.

Bottle - More malt than hops. A little dryness in the back of the palate. Hard to nail down any particular flavors but a very good drinkable ale.

pours amber with a lasting white head and a nice amount of lacing. aroma has notes of sweet cream, lemon and cereal. taste is simple with notes of orange peel, mild bitterness. finish is dull but present. A beer that says relatively little but says it fairly well.

Spicy malt aroma from a thick tan head. Cinnamon clear colored body. Flat sour malt taste with a hint of apple. No hops detected. Mildly sweet finish. Kind of underwhelming though not bad.

Pours caramel brown with a small beige top. Aroma is caramel malts and light earthy hop. Taste is caramel malts with a small hop bitterness. After being in Dusseldorf, this doesn’t come close to a traditional alt.

Crystal clear amber hued beer with not a single carbo bubble. Good size head that lingers and fades slowly. Sweet malt aroma. Tastes good with sutle fruitiness and sweet malt, bready or biscuit can be picked up also. Nothing overpowering clean finish. Leaves some lacing around glass. Medium mouthfeel. A go to beer Drink well my friends

Bottle. Aroma is malty and earthy. Taste is malty and hoppy. A little metallic. Hop at end. Maybe a touch of caramel. Ok beer. Smooth but not much going on.

The body has good clarity and a nice medium amber color. Its head was off white in color, of average size and quickly settles down and fades to thin ring of lace. The aroma has hints of leafy, mineral like and grassy hops with some lightly toasted grain. The flavor is well balanced and delicate. Hop flavor is leafy and grassy with mild bitterness. It is in very good balance with the light bready malt. The light bitterness fades quickly and cleanly off the tongue, setting you up for the next sip. It has a light to medium body, smooth texture and average carbonation.

Dark amber color with a thin, quickly disappearing head. Slightly caramel spicy flavor with malt. Strong lace.
