Commercial Description:
Light, crisp and refreshing, Blackbeary Wheat is modeled after the spontaneously fermented "Lambics" of Belgium. Real blackberries added to the fermentation contribute a subtle fruitiness to this Summer Quencher! Available May through August.

On Tap @ Long Trail Pours a clear pale yellow with a white head which leaves quickly. Aroma is of berries and wheat with a touch of floral. Carbonation is okay. Flavor is berries and wheat. Not over bearing berries so it is drinkable. Has a light body. The finish is okay. This isn’t what I look for in beer but it wasn’t as bad as some I have had. It was drinkable.

Experienced from a 12oz bottle in an elongated tulip glass. The beer pours a slightly fuller-than-straw-colored golden hue, with a moderate but quickly disappearing white head. The nose is initially slightly grainy, with a residual artificial fruity character that lingers in the nose and palate. The palate betrays the beer as a very poorly crafted and brewed example of the style. Little complexity or depth in terms of flavor. No bitterness, no detectable malt character, other than the aforementioned basic pilsner-derived sweetness. Utterly forgettable.

Pours a crystal clear, very light pale golden color. Aroma is of malts and blackberry. Flavor is similar. There’s basically just malts and berries present with very light wheat. Leaves a malty blackberry aftertaste.

This is nothing like a lambic. Upon opening the bottle, hiss of carbonation is released. Pours golden amber with quickly rising bubbles. Head has no staying power. Arouma of grains, berries apples and some must. Sweet caramel malts with a hint of fruity berries, dry mildew and some hops on the finish. Pleasant and mostly drinkable but boring, imbalanced flavors. Tingly mouthfeel, crisp and smooth, medium body.

Bottle. Clear pale yellow with fading white head. Aroma is floral with blackberry and wheat. Flavors of wheat, blackberry and straw. Slightly tart, acidic finish. Thin body with watery mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Bland, and watery.

From a bottle poured a golden color with a fair amount of head. Light berry flavor with a quick grassy finish.

Light golden body with a fluffy white head and rapidly rising bubbles. Aroma is fruity and slightly floral with the blackberry readily apparent. Body is very light with almost a water-like quality. Very little flavors besides the berry and slight wheat notes. Finishes of quickly with only the slightest bitterness. Refreshing and definitely a summer beer, though not very exciting.

(2009) 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours super-clear golden with a fizzy white soda head that fizzles to nothing fast. The aroma is quite light, I’m really having to strain to find anything, but there is a small hint of blackberry and fruit with a touch of malt. The flavor is quite weak with a touch of fruit, some smooth wheat malt, and a noticeable dose of ketchup and general off flavors... nothing too good here. Smooth mouthfeel, but super high carbonation burns away.
