COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This brew combines 2-Row Pilsen malt, a hint of Crystal malt, and of course, plenty of malted wheat. A hint of blackberry at the finish makes this beer a real thirst quencher! For the health conscious, Blackbeary Wheat has less than 6 grams of carbs and under 125 calories per bottle!

Bottle. Light gold pour with minimal head. Wheat, floral, oily and soft on the nose, and blackberry. I like the aroma. The taste is light with a nice berry finish.

Can. Pours golden yellow with medium carbonation. Smells like marigolds with a thin whit head that lingers. More blackberry than wheat. A little watery. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Berry and spicy cereal grains on the nose. The dominant taste: sweet berry with a smidgen of bready spicy maltiness to almost balance it.

Can from Bert’s Slightly hazy deep yellow color with a decent sized bubbly white head. Berry and spicy cereal grains on the nose. Sweet berry dominates the flavor with a bit of bready spicy maltiness to almost balance it. Feels more like a wine cooler than a beer, but cleanly fermented and tasty.

from bottle: pours a light, transparent yellow with thin head - looks much like a typical macro. lots of carbonation. aroma is very faint berry. some fruit in the taste, but subdued compared to many fruit beers. doesn’t seem to resemble a wheat beer in any way. more like a fruit-flavored lager. would make for an ok summer session beer, but many more I would choose for that purpose over this one.

On tap at the brewery: Pours clear golden with a decent white head. Aroma of pilsner malt, sugar, and a hint of fruit. Taste is meeh pilsner with a hint of berries. Not overwhelming like most fruit beers but still not very good. Light body, thin tasting, meeh beer.

12 fl oz, got from Alex, after a tasting round at Kingdom Brewing, Newport, VT. Thanks a lot! Pours clear pale golden in the glass, short loving head. Only blackberry on the nose. Starts with herb blackberry, maybe due to the hope. Later mid bitter dry aftertaste. Not really my favourite style.

The body was a clear pale yellow color with a thin white head. Its head just covered the body and left only minimal lacing on the glass. The aroma had a pleasant bouquet of sweet wild berries with some notes of grain and wheat malts. It has a semi-sweet blackberry flavor up front that is held in check buy the twang of the wheat. These two flavors are balanced nicely and work very well together. Hop flavor is very mild offering only a very slight herbal flavor and almost no bitterness. The taste thins towards the finish, which is crisp and slightly dry. Its body is light with a crisp refreshing texture and an average to fizzy carbonation. This beer has a nice solid flavor with an easy to drink body that makes for a nice hot weather refresher.

DATE REVIEWED: June 7, 2014... GLASSWARE: Lindemans flute... OCCASION: Gatsby 2012....bring it on, Baz!...APPEARANCE: crystal clear, faintly tinted in yellow, with rapid effervescence; thick yet bubbly white head...odd, misshapen lacing... AROMA: pungent, offish skunky funk that suggests a fruity failure--not saying any more than this... PALATE: soft, bubbly, thin and drinkable--almost refreshing, but more like weakly flavored water... TASTE: mostly acquiescent light beer malt tendencies, with a tinge of blackberry--rather flat... OVERALLL: a weak, cleansing, warm weather wheat that doesn’t distinguish itself; such a slight turn of berry that only faintly offers flavor, and what is offered is annoying....

Review transferred from BA review on 4-13-2012 - Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance – A very light golden/straw color with a very light white head. The head faded very fast giving way to almost no lacing. Smell –There is some very light wheat aromas mixed with a little bit of berry aroma as well. There is also the presence of some less pleasant skunky and metallic aromas as well. Taste- The taste is of light breadiness up front, with light what flavors mixed in. There is a very light sweetness in the middle of the beer, which seems to diminish again toward the end. At the end there is some of the skunkiness detected in the nose as well as a presence of blackberry flavors. The skunk and blackberry linger on the tongue and leave a somewhat unpleasant aftertaste. Mouthfeel – It has a very light body with a medium level of carbonation. Right for the style, but nothing really too great. Overall – Not really my kind of beer. It really doesn’t have anything I found all that enjoyable. The taste and aroma were nothing all that pleasurable, the taste left a rather unpleasant aftertaste in the mouth and the mouthfeel was really quite bland.
