Aroma of big toffee malts, citrus and earthy hop notes, some candied citrus, booze and a bit of a chemical note. The taste is leafy, vegetal, citrus and tropical hops. One of the best things I have had from this brewery. Very good balanced DIPA, very drinkable. Tasty orange citrus, hops up front hitting the style, good malt backbone. Above average mouthfeel. Slightly tart.

UPDATED: AUG 16, 2013 Re-rate 8/14/13: Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks zvikar. Hazy orange. Aroma of stale hops and some malt, a bit caramelly. Sweetish malty flavor with caramel, honey notes and stale hops bitterness. Medium-bodied. Too old. Score is not calculated. 5/3/5/3/10=2.6

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel Florentine. Thanks beerandbeyond. Aroma of piney hops with a bit of resinous and citrus notes. Flavor has some malty sweetness at first, nice citric and piney hops and moderate bitterness. Medium-bodied. Nice stuff. 7/3/7/3/14=3.5

650 ml bottle. From the US (H). Shared with Brandman. Golden colour with small off-white head. American hoppy aroma with hints of alcohol. Strong piney resiny hoppy flavour with some alcohol. Hoppy aftertaste.

651mL thanks to beerandblues2. The pour is a hazy, bright yellow with a thick, off-white head. Nice retention and lace. Nose is sulfur, lemon, older/cheesy/stale hops, sugar, apples. Taste is dryer, stoney, lemon, spicy alcohol. Not much too it save for some astringency and sticky/old hops. Ick.

2009-05-02. Golden orange amber body with a small white head. (3+) Interesting hoppy aroma has a leafy character and in interesting hoppy layer that seems new to me (different kind of hops perhaps?) but gets milder as it goes. (7+) Flavour is milder than expected. Pleasant hoppiness throughout, light bitterness. Hops are again a bit different from what I am used to and again make me wonder what kind were used. Mild base malt. Subtle, touches of citrus and very light resin. (7+) Average palate is smooth but feels a touch light for a double IPA. Quite pleasant, and an interesting twist but lacks the oomph I usually want from a double IPA. Bottle from Premier Gourmet, Buffalo. Shared by DuctTape.

Bottle from Craft fresh today. Pours hazy gold with huge 3-finger fluffy white head and copious lacing. Nose is wet hoppy, with pineapple, tangerine, some pale malt. Very citruc nose. Tastes wet hoppy, resiny, with a ton of tangerine, orange, pineapple, and mango flavors, in roughly that order. Smooth, very complex palate with finishing peppery notes to match the colossal hops and tropical fruit. Marvelous! Long Trail has become a brewer that I now seek out with these big brewmaster series beers. As a caveat, I don’t seek the regular stuff, just the brewmasters classic series! Get ya some, and do it now, punks!

Bottle. Pale amber gold beer with a thin white head. The aroma is lovely. Rich bright tropical citrus aroma. Light sweet honeyish aroma. A bit of light tropical mango and pineapple. It is very bright and fresh smelling. Flavour is soft and fruity. Fairly creamy texture with a rich fruity hoppiness. Moderate bitterness. Lovely and hoppy with a light moderate bitterness. Lovely beer.
