UPDATED: AUG 9, 2009 Pours orange with a frothy yet diminishing white head, good lace. Nose of citrus, specifically orange, with some pine. Taste is hops, slight pine, citrus, slight alcohol, bitter finish. Despite my short description, I really enjoyed this brew, not extreme, not light, but very balanced for a DIPA.

Bottle 22fl.oz.

Unclear medium yellow colour with a large to huge, frothy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, toasted, caramel, fruity, moderate hoppy, leather - brett. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, brett, leather. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120202]

Pours surprisingly light for a DIPA with very little head. Not much of an aroma of anything. Same goes for taste. There’s a little bit of citrusy hops but if you blink you’ll miss it and it’s almost overwhelmed by a big yeast bomb. I would give this to somebody who has never had a DIPA to trick them into drinking something stronger/better next time.

Beautiful burnt orange hue with fluffy white head. Aroma has nice citrus hop note, but that does not come as through in the taste as much as I would like for an Double IPA. Dry, and not very bitter, despite a reported 86 IBU. I enjoy this beer, and think I could get trouble drinking it considering it alcohol content and it not feeling that hard hitting.

Bottle; poured a dark amber/orange with a bit of cloudiness. Small tan head with good staying power. Aroma of pine with a little citrus mixed in. Flavor disappointing - minimal hops detected, some citrus, but mostly bready maltiness noted, with some alcohol notes and a bitter aftertaste. A disappointing beer based on the reviews here; although the bottle was a recent purchase and was refrigerated, I have to wonder whether it was an old sample given that it was found in Virginia.

On tap at the brewpub in Bridgewater Corners, VT. Pours a clear golden-orange colored body with a finger-width, dense and frothy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is pretty solid with a good amount of citrusy pines along with a few florals and some caramel malts offering a balancing sweetness. Some juicy resins come out a bit more as this warms. Flavor is similar. Lots of juicy, piney citruses and resins with a few tropical floral fruits. Solid caramel malt balance with a light sweetness that aids in bringing out the juiciness of the hops. Some peaches come out towards the end as this finishes dry and moderately bitter with lots of fruity pine resins and a light caramel sweetness. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a really solid DIPA. Very fresh with lots of juicy pine resins and a nice caramel offering a light sweetness. Highly enjoyable and no hint of the ABV%.

first tried this back in ’09 or ’10; rated in 1/20/12 from notes. Pours a golden color, nice head, little strong in smell and taste. Much better DIPAs out there.

22 oz bottle from a local Stop n’ Shop. Nose mostly from the hops with notes of pine and brown sugar. Pours an unfiltered dark gold hue with a thick, vanilla milkshake like head. The beer’s flavor is initially sweet with orange and grapefruit notes with a bitter, pine aftertaste with a slight semblance of bagels. This beer has tight carbonation and a medium body that makes it not too hard to put down. Very solid double IPA.

Cloudy and bubbly yellow orange, medium white head. Aroma is hoppy with a little pine although fairly subdued. Medium body, no alcohol. Up front bitterness, orange/lemon and grass. Then becomes more on the sweet side, not so much malt as just sweet which throws things off a little.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel Florentine. Thanks beerandbeyond. Aroma of piney hops with a bit of resinous and citrus notes. Flavor has some malty sweetness at first, nice citric and piney hops and moderate bitterness. Medium-bodied. Nice stuff.
