3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very rich, malty, sweet. It’s basically a pumpkin doublebock IMO. Moderate pumpkin flavor with the usual spices, plus some caramel, a little butterscotch, and plenty of alcohol. Warming, which makes me wish it wasn’t 86 degree today in early October in Connecticut (damn global warming!). Anyway, it’s pretty good, one of the better pumpkin beers I’ve had actually. Not gimmicky, just a nice strong beer with some pumpkin.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured from bomber. Dark copper color with good streaking from an initially thin head. Roasted malt and pie spice aromas with a bubblegum note from the yeast, perhaps. Full, rich flavors. Medium sweetness with all the spices.

Bottle as shown. Pours a cloudy orange with small off white head. The aroma is cinnamon, spice, ginger and nutmeg. Medium mouthfeel with nice cinnamon and ginger flavor with light spice in the finish. Very good.

so i am not sure if the brush and barrel series is same as brewmaster but here i go. 22oz bomber enjoyed in a standard pint glass. A darker colored brownish orange with a nice one finger small bubble head. Aroma is a best hits or pumpkin beer with clove and all spice but not ever the top. The taste is a full body malt with light touches of bitter and brown sugar. For me the greatness comes in the full satisfying body that more pumpkin beers should have. Pumpkin beer to be enjoyed on a cold VT evening. 8abv not noticeable. a good all around example.

From a 22 oz bottle shared at home. Pours a clear reddish copper with an off white head. Caramel malt nose. Spicy pumpkin pie notes, but not over the top. Tasty.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bomber marked 062813, their redesignated Barrel and Brush series, and I do like the label-front painting. Nose is pumpkin with pie spices: nutmeg, cloves, light allspice, faint ginger. Pours opaque/cloudy orange-brown but ruby under light with clingy and dense tan head. Taste is sweet and overly spiced, but softly malty as if a generous dose of wheat had been added, bitterness rising toward the muddled yeasty-malty end, but it’s more spice-related bitterness than hop-derived. Speaking of which, the attachment to the bottle notes Nugget, Mt. Hood, and Willamette this year, they’re low on the totem pole but bring deft but bright citrus and very soft pine, with nice complementary earthiness (the pumpkin is there but well below the cloves and it’s even under the cinnamon!) and just enough oily bite to make them worth the search. Murky-slimy but smooth medium body, alcohol very well hidden. Not my favorite pumpkin beer, not even my favorite big/double pumpkin, but as with many things this time of year, I’m just so in love with the change in season... .

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from big bottle. Aroma of pumpkin and brown sugar. Thick, cloudy orange amber with a bit of head. I taste pumpkin pepper, banana, cinnamon, brown sugar, grass and alcohol. Definitely not as sweet as other pumpkin ales. Spices and hops give this a crisp, somewhat dry feel - kinda refreshing. Gets better as it warms. Well done.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz. bottle picked up at Astoria Bier & Cheese in Queens. Limited run "Brush and Barrel" bottle that features a piece of local Vermont art on it. Very nice packaging. I believe that this is the same as the standard Imperial Pumpkin, however (someone please PM me if I am incorrect).
Opaque, orangey-brown hue reminiscent of a dried apricot. Attractive, roughly 1 cm orangey head that mostly dissipated after a few seconds. Aroma was the most underwhelming part of the beer - generally inoffensive but nothing special, faint fruit aroma and less spice than I was expecting. Very nice sweet, caramel and spice flavor that tastes lower in ABV than the advertised 8%.
