   AROMA 7/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 7/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 14/20
MartinT (9063) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 20, 2010
My Bottom Line:
Loads of orange peel, ginger and flower petals create a buoyant perfume to grace this softly carbonated and highly drinkable Imperial Witbier.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam crowns the cloudy yellow.
-Wheat appears in the end, but rather shyly.
-I’m not sure the higher alcohol is necessary for such a refreshing flavor profile.
-The pot-pourri intensity might be offputting to those who don’t like citrusy and perfumy aromas.

Bottle.

Courtesy of jcwattsrugger. It pours hazy gold with bubbly full off white head. The aroma has modest spices, sweet orange candy covered in brown sugar and then a mix of perfumy floral hops and an herbal note. The taste is similar with sweet orange hard candy, herbal notes, flowery perfume, mild malt sweetness and moments here and there of grains. Its fruity sweet, a bit too bright and disjointed.

Bottle. Light golden orange with a white head. Citric aroma, oranges and lemons, with a light sweetness. The flavor has a light sweetness, with oranges and coriander, and a nice dry finish.

22oz bottle pours a hazy, but mostly translucent orange gold with a little, cloudy white head. Aroma is all spices, coriander, sage, sugary, perfume, flowers, a little paint thinner. The flavor is overly sugary, flowers, sage leaves, lavender, perfume, oranges. Finish is thick, a little too sweet. A big miss.

Blind Tasting. Soapy, lemon, coriander. Sort of like a exfoliating soap you steal from nice hotels. Floral perfuminess, citrusy lemony notes. White wine like spritz. Overloaded on coriander, lemon peel. some booziness. Just becauce you dbl’d the ABV you dont need to double the spice

(Rating #3040)

Bottle:   Straw in color, pale golden hue, thin white frothy head, dies quickly, sparce lacing.   Spicy nose, corriander, orange zest, and a lot of dried fruit, the dehydrated kind.   There is some sweet prune too!   Very flavorful on the tongue.   Loads of dehydrated fruit, mainly prune and apricot.   Very interesting and different for a strong Witbier.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   This one is more fruity than being a witbier, but that’s okay.   A very interesting take on the style.

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very cloudy yellow-orange with a huge yellow-white head that lingered. The aroma was very strong and distinct coriander and lemon. The best coriander note I have ever found in a wit. The flavor was strong orange and coriander with undertones of must, lemon, pepper and yeastiness. Medium length finish. Fairly full bodied. Excellent.
