Our Brown Bag Series Berliner Weisse is a tart, fruity, highly effervescent and refreshing ale. Relatively low in alcohol at only 3.4% this highly sessionable brew has a light body and a very dry finish. A regional specialty of Berlin, it was referred to by Napoleon’s troops in 1809 as "the Champagne of the north" due to its lively and elegant character. Described by some as the most purely refreshing beer in the world, only two traditional breweries still produce this style.

Growler: Briney lemon and malt nose. Hazy pale yellow, medium rapidly dissipating head. Quite tart lemon, maybe lime. Malt finish. Light body, easy carbonation. Very good example of the style. I love the lower alcohol content. Authentic.

The flavor is tart with mild lactic acid. No pucker with a super clean finish. Light body with a lively, active carbonation level. Tart lemon finish with slight grain, easy to drink.

On draught at the North Fork Craft Beer Festival at Peconic Bay Vineyard. Pours a lightly hazed straw color with a thin white head. Pleasant aroma of lemon that is tart and lightly sweet. The flavor is similar with lemon, more tart than sweet but elements of both. Bright finish with very mild bitterness.
