COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Brown Bag Series Berliner Weisse is a tart, fruity, highly effervescent and refreshing ale. Relatively low in alcohol at only 3.4% this highly sessionable brew has a light body and a very dry finish. A regional specialty of Berlin, it was referred to by Napoleon’s troops in 1809 as "the Champagne of the north" due to its lively and elegant character. Described by some as the most purely refreshing beer in the world, only two traditional breweries still produce this style.

A clear pale blonde Weisse with a thin white head. In aroma, tart lemon juice with light mineral notes, chalky, OK. In mouth, a nice tart refreshing Weisse with light lemon, lactic acid, Epsom salts, nice and smooth. On tap at Vermont Tap House.

Light hazy yellow with a paper thin white head. Aroma of wheat and lacto. Taste is muted wheat and lacto, a bit weak, watered down even for a Berliner.

Growler: Briney lemon and malt nose. Hazy pale yellow, medium rapidly dissipating head. Quite tart lemon, maybe lime. Malt finish. Light body, easy carbonation. Very good example of the style. I love the lower alcohol content. Authentic.

On tap at McLadden’s in West Hartford: Pours hazy straw with a thin white head. Aroma of hay, funk, and sour notes. Taste is mildly tart, very dry, with some yeast funk on the back end. Really solid Berliner. Light body, clean finish, very enjoyable.

The flavor is tart with mild lactic acid. No pucker with a super clean finish. Light body with a lively, active carbonation level. Tart lemon finish with slight grain, easy to drink.
