3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a clear copper color. The head is a one finger off-white shade, and while it’s relatively creamy looking, it doesn’t have the best retention.
S: The malt is typically toffee-forward, but with that faint German touch to it. Namely, stone fruits and just a hint of diacetyl. There’s a hop profile that’s very mellow yet still noticeable. Not bad, not bad at all.
T: Loads of toffee start this one off. The flavor even gets faintly nutty at times, with some nice apricot notes right after the swallow. There does seem to be a touch of alcohol flavor (along with a faint burn) on the finish. I have to say that overall, the flavor profile isn’t my cup of tea.
M: It’s actually kind of coarse, and even slightly angular in feel. This helps to give it pretty good drinkability in spite of its maltiness. Carbonation is light, which somehow suits this one.
O: This isn’t my (double) bag, as the scores reflect. Still, I don’t hate it. Decent to try if you’re looking for something different, but I wouldn’t recommend a full 6 pack.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, pours a medium amber with a hint of haze and a tan cap. The smell is roasted malt, fruit sweetness, and a touch of brown sugar and herbs. The taste is roasted malt, fruity, crisp hops in the middle ending crisp with a lingering sweetness. Light+ in body with average carbonation. I lived in Düsseldorf for 4 years, this is in the ballpark of a Stikebier but unfortunately doesn't hold up to the originals.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
A favorite everyday drinker. Not sure why I’ve waited. Bottle poured honey amber, crystal clear. Fine bubbled thin head. Palate is a clean clingy board of malts. Sweet finish lingers. Well done.

2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Pours a bit copper and a bit cloudy. Slight floral aroma. Big malt up front but a strong boozy flavor that I didn’t enjoy. Some heat at the back end so no hiding the higher ABV. I really like their regular alt and think I’ll stick to that.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Smells of caramel malt orange zest with a slight rotted grape of wine smell. Color is a orange and gold color. Taste as sweet from the mounts bitterness coming through slightly fall by Boozy aftertaste. Medium body smooth Crisp carbonation. Not a bad brew just don’t care for the winey finish or the alcohol burn.

If you’re looking to stick every rating here on at least one beer, this fits the just-above-the-middle-of-the-road rating. It’s got a bitter aftertaste that takes away from the initial taste, but not so bitter that it runs it. It’s...just above average.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours a clear dark amber with a bubbly white head that fades. Aroma of oak, malt, hops, a hint of sweeter fruit. Taste has a lot of crisp yeasty malt, with an underlying sweetness and wood. Hides the alcohol. Lingering crispness that isn’t very big. Drinkable, not bad.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
12 oz bottle poured dark amber into a pint glass, with minimal white head. Aromas of berries and floral malt. Taste initially of a little booze then quickly turns to a roasted caramel with a smooth sweet aftertaste. Pretty solid beer, can have several of these in one sitting.
