Pleasant enough as a low alcohol session beer. Low OG for low alcohol also leads to pretty average mouth feel. Nutty notes as befits a brown, some malt, some hops, but really not especially interesting. There is a new stone ballast point collaboration that works much better as a session beer.

Aroma of chocolate, oak, hops, malt, trees and earth. Taste is similar. Slight roast balanced nicely by the sweetness from the chocolate. A little bitter on the finish. Nice.

Poured from bottle into pint glass
Appearance – Pours a brown copper color with a one finger white head that fades rather fast. Upon fading it leaves only a very light level of lacing along with a rather persistent film on the top of the brew.
Smell – The nose is rather light. It consists mainly of a light caramel and bready aroma. Mixed with these are some aromas of a roasted nut and a light herbal smell.
Taste – The taste begins with a bready taste with notes of roasted malt mixed within. As the taste advances from there, the roasted notes grow a bit stronger while a wave of caramel and light honey sweetness come to the tongue. The caramel soon starts to fade more toward the end with a nut taste entering the tongue. This when mixed with the roasted malt and bready flavors leaves a rather dry roasted flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is a little below average in terms of its creaminess with a carbonation level that is rather average. Both the body and the carbonation give it a crisper feel on the tongue, which while good for the drinkability is not so good for the roasted and caramel flavors.
Overall – An alright beer overall, but nothing to shout home about.

Pours brown with a small beige head. Aroma is earthy, caramel malts with sweet maple syrup and small hops. Taste is woody, sweetness coming from the maple syrup and a small hop bitterness. Kind of a mess and really not that tasty.

Pours a bark amber with a little head that doen’t linger very long. Carbonation is very low.
There is a slight malt aroma, not much at all.
There is little in way of taste. Some roasted malt notes can be picked up on the first sip with some yeasty bread notes at the end.
This beer feels thin and watery with some coarseness when you drink it. This beer is drinkable but it lacks character.
This beer needs more roasted malts and should be brown or a deep amber if is going to be a brown ale.Could also use a bit more carbonation to help keep the head afloat.

It had a medium reddish brown color with good clarity and a thin just off white colored head. The head hangs on and leaves nice lacing on the glass. Its aroma has hints of lightly toasted sweet malts with some mild floral and leafy hops. The flavor was for me a little light but nicely balanced for an English Brown Ale. It has a nice malty presence with just enough hops for balance and character. The body had a smooth medium body with average carbonation.

Poured from bottle into pint glass: Pours dark brown . red with a thin white head. Aroma is nutty, light spice, leaves. Taste is nutty, maple syrup, spice, brown sugar, molasses. Medium body, a little sweet, nutty finish on the back end, but overall a pretty solid beer especially for the style.

Bottle. Pours a clear brown color with a two finger beige head. Aroma was toasty with caramel and some nuttiness. Flavor of toasted malts, sweet caramel, brown sugar, nuts and some faint chocolate.

Reviewed from notes from some time ago (September 03, 2012). Pours a dark amber/brown and leaves the same colored body that leaves a large full two finger white head that lasts a good minute. The body is too dark for any carbonation to be seen rising. No lacing is around the sides of the glass. The aroma has a great combination of brown sugar, molasses, maple syrup and a short roasty nutty aroma. The taste has all of the previously mentioned ingredients combined perfectly. On the palate, the body feels about a medium and leaves a slight stickiness, not bad, nutty aftertaste and finish. Overall, I’ll go out on a limb and say this is probably one of most drinkable browns on the market.

Aroma resembles a brown ale. Some mild roasty notes and the slightest amount of hop bitterness upfront. Sweet, malty finish, maple syrup finish, which makes sense Light, lightly carbonated mouthfeel - only 3.6% ABV and tastes almost like a carbonated British bitter. All in all, not a bad beer but nothing really to recommend it either in my opinion.

On tap. Dark reddish brown color topped by a brief small beige head. Big earthy toasted malt aroma has notes of burnt sugar. Flavor is more caramel maltiness with a touch of spicy hops. Notes of sulphur and brown sugar, as well.
