Been quite a while since I rated a scotch ale. Pours a lightly deep amber with a frothy head. Aromas of toffee, caramel, slight hint of bubblegum, slight banana, and light grain. Flavors of slight banana esters, light toffee, slight smoke, and light caramel. All the flavors are light. Leaves a slight smoke aftertaste, but not noticed much in the flavors or aroma. Lightly bitter and lightly sweet. Interesting off the beat brew than what Im used to.

Bottle into a goblet. Pour is a haze light brown, with a fine head. Aroma is heavy malt and bitter. Taste is a very thick malt base with a hard bitter edge. Finish is s nice malt. Very good ale.

UPDATED: APR 28, 2013 Draft at Tattooed Mom, then later the Khyber. Poured a slightly hazy light burnt sienna. Foamy white head. Does not strike me as a Scottish Ale at all. Burnt biscuits. Slight smoke. Mostly dry finish. Very drinkable but not exceptional.

Kind of a pale red color with some lace. Metallic and spicy malt. Nice fruity character. Disguised hop backbone. Medium body.

Bottle. Copper color - somewhat cloudy. Clean, malty aroma. Malty, roasty and slightly hoppy aroma. Pretty weak for a winter ale, really.

A drinkable beer. Mild flavors and not to heavy. Good for a seasonal but Im not crazy about it.

12 oz. Not so good. Average at best. Like a weak lager. Nothing really "winter ale" about it IMO.

Aroma is gritty and slightly nutty malts. The flavor is mildly nuttiness, fruit and gritty malts.

Poured a clear amber with a very thin white head. Aroma is caramel, bread, nuts, cereal, herbs, and a faint earthiness. Taste is caramel, herbs, maple, nuts, and cereal. A little too sweet for my taste.
