Bottle. Muddy copper with a short tan ring of foam. Big malt and caramel in the nose with spice notes and floral hops. Taste is spicy hops nestled amongst chewy malt, toffee, caramel notes, soft fruit and floral hops. Body is medium with a soft, fizzy carbonation. Finishes with more spicy notes, caramel, toffee notes, malt, floral hops, citrus, and light earthiness.

BlackIPA (716) - Rochester, New York, USA - JAN 18, 2012
Pours a very cloudy amber with a head that faded quickly into a ring. I’m getting sweet malts, some smoke flavor in the nose. Very malty. Very heavy smelling. Flavor is Very malt forward with a hint of battering hops at the end. Kind of sweet. Thin mouthfeel. This is a decent beer with few flaws.

crossovert (4561) - Wisconsin, USA - JAN 10, 2012
Smells like a pale ale with some caramel. The flavor is a bit bitter, but rotten tasting. Just a foul of a beer. Tastes like hastily made brewpub fare.

Capa (1905) - Manama, BAHRAIN - JAN 9, 2012
Deep copper with a medium head. Aroma is malty, toasted, and a bit of dark sugar. Medium to full body. Flavor has nice toasted malt, sweet, light caramel. Fits the bill for a winter ale but nothing more.

"like coors made it", thats all I could think when I was drinking this one. No imagination, no interesting take or unique flavors.

Pours a dark copper with an off white head. Smells quite malty, sweet and grainy. Taste of semi sweet hops hitting first with the sweetness then bitterness. Malt dominates giving it a more regular beer type flavor and the warming feeling. Nothing to strong or complex but another great session brew by Longtrail.

Pours a dark caramel color with an off-white head. Great lacing. Aroma of brown sugar, nuts, and honey. Flavor has toasted malt, caramel, and honey. A bit sweet and light for the style, but a nice drinking beer.

Scrapersnbeer (979) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - DEC 1, 2011
Served at a new place, Max and Leo’s, on the Newton rotary. Nice burnt umber color, toasty sugar aroma. It is semi-sweet with bitterness that escalates towards the finish. Medium body that feels heavier than it is.Thought this was more English than Scottish. Love that bear by the fire.

Again, weak lightly flavored beer but with no major flaws. Thin and malty. Not bad but boring and light On flavor
