Bottle. Copper color - somewhat cloudy. Clean, malty aroma. Malty, roasty and slightly hoppy aroma. Pretty weak for a winter ale, really.

On tap at the brewery: Pours dark brown with a hint of read and a thin white head. Aroma of roasted malt, molasses, and leaves. Taste is slightly sweet, roasted, slight caramel, cocoa, brown sugar, and a little bite on the back end. This was always pretty solid for winter beer. Medium body, high carbonation, always decent.

Transfer from BA review on 2-13-13- Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance – Served an orange-amber colored brew with a one finger white head. The head faded very rapidly leaving a great level of lacing on the glass. Smell – The smell is heaviest of a bready aromas mixed with a lighter caramel sweetness and some oak and nut smells as well. Overall the aroma is quite light. Taste – The taste begins with flavors of a more breaded and lightly roasted malt flavor. Up front there are hints of a caramel sweetness. The sweetness begins to fade more toward the middle as flavors of a bit more roasted malt and more bready flavors come to the tongue joined by a lighter citrus hop of a grapefruit flavor. Other flavors of a woody and spiced nature then come to the tongue. In the end, with a increase in the caramel sweetness once again, a moderately sweetened spiced and bready taste is left on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The thickness of the beer was on the medium to slightly above medium side with a little bit of chewiness and a lower level of carbonation. The slightly thicker body was quite nice for the bready and spiced flavors of the brew. A bit more carbonation may have been nicer for the lighter grapefruit citrus hop flavors of the brew, but overall it was pretty well done. Overall – Not bad. While the combination of flavors upfront was not too appealing, with somewhat off transitions, as the brew warmed more it took on a bit more sweetness allowing for a bridging of the flavors in a smoother transition.

Dark brown. Mild roasty malt aroma. The taste is slightly sweet but the roasted malts keep is from being overly sweet. Light and sessionable

Bottle. Dark clear ruby with a quickly dissipating off white head. Aroma is toffee, raisin and roasted malt. Taste is roasted malt, chocolate and brown sugar. Roasty qualities keep it from being too sweet. Only negative is a weird lagerish finish. Medium chewy mouthfeel and strong carbonation. Pleasant surprise.

12 oz bottle from a winter mix 12 pack. Murky brown color with thin white head. Aroma is molasses, roasted grain and light notes of fruit?? Toasted walnuts, light caramel and a weak earthy hop in the finish. A nuance of spice. Thin body that borders on watery. No problems just really light.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance has a dark brown/almost dark golden colored body with a small white head that lasts just a couple seconds. Spotty lacing running down the sides of the glass. The smell has some mild roasted malts along with some nuts. The taste is slightly sweet through the roasted malts. The palate is light and sessionable with a mild nutty aftertaste and finish. Overall, this is good for the style, and awesome to me.

12oz into a glass. Pours a rich and full amber red dark fire beauty. Head is full, subsides nicely to 1cm and leaves lacing. Aroma is of spice, nutmeg, orange spice, melon, herbal concentrate, slight pepper, fig newton and dried plum. Taste is dried plain fruit, not juciy, just dried out. Plum, figs, dates, rasins, brown sugar. tart resonating freshenss, full bodied on a winters day. Sips nicely in front of the fire, solid full bodied brew, mothfell is plentifual and full, satisfiying and enyoyable. Nice winter brew/
