Bottle. Clear brown with, fizzy off-white head; short retention and minimal lacing. Aroma is caramel and toasted malts, figs, dates, floral and grassy hops, herbs, and light funk. Flavor is sweet malts forward with supporting dark fruit esters and faint hops; light leather notes with a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Ok beer but not great. Not very complex and a little boring. Flavors are there just not strong.

Bottle into a goblet. Pour is a dark tan with a fine head. Aroma is malted grass and co2. Taste is that of rich malt with a co edge. Finish is a nice crisp malt. Good dark ale.

This is no more a brown ale than I am an astronaut. Pours a clear amber in color with a thick white head. Aroma is cereal and caramel without much more. Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a nonic glass. Small white head with little lacing that dissipates quickly. The beer itself is brown/ somewhat mahogany hue. Aroma is barely present with some light nutty, caramel scents. Earthy, nutty, caramel flavors with are followed by mild bitter notes. Earthy, bitter flavors persist lightly after the finish. Its not overly flavorful. Carbonation is in check but feels thin. Below average brown ale in my opinion. Its balanced and sessionable for sure but not a lot of bang for your buck.

THOUGHTS: Nothing too special, but a very easy to drink brown ale.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, dark, brownish amber with an average, off-white head that mostly diminished and left hardly any lacing. The aroma had moderate very dark bread, nutty malts, caramel and coffee; slight hops; toffee and a little apple. The initial flavor was moderately sweet and ever so slightly bitter; while the finish was light to moderately sweet and moderately bitter with an average duration. There was caramel, toffee, hints coffee, slight hops, and chocolate. The light to medium body was slightly syrupy and then dry with fizzy carbonation and a lightly astringent finish.

UPDATED: JUL 1, 2012 Transparent caramel color. Slightly bitter after taste. Thin texture. Feels and tastes like a dark brown ale that?s been watered down.
