3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 muzzlehatch (4425) - Burlington, USA - MAR 27, 2003
Clear medium brown, thinnish head leaves a bit of lacing. Nutty-sweet nose with hints of citrus. Flavor very sweet and mild, caramel and hints of hazelnuts, some light hoppiness at the end; I don't get what people are complaining about the "overpowering" hops, are all brown ales supposed to be insipid and taste like hazelnut soda or something? Didn't think so; the hop bite here helps this brew rise above mediocrity, though it is certainly not great and lacks a bit in body. Better than average for LT. Earlier Rating: 12/28/2001 Total Score: 2 On tap (not available bottled, thank God). 17 varieties of hops and malts and you get this? I guess if you smear a bunch of paints together you get -- no color. Here -- no flavor, at least no good flavor. LOOKS promising enough -- translucent dark-wood appearance seemed unusual and interesting; nose does not beckon though.. there’s barely anything there. Flavor is like a stronger American macro; magnify what little flavor you have in Miller, and you get this. Not a good thing, is it? Finish is rather stale. Even Long Trail can do much better than this!
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 negron (21) - Stamford, Connecticut, USA - FEB 28, 2012
Transparent caramel color. Slightly bitter after taste. Thin texture. Feels and tastes like a dark brown ale that’s been watered down.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 beerfest5 (810) - Simsbury, Connecticut, USA - DEC 28, 2011
pretty much the most boring beer ive had only because its so easy to drink. If someone told me that they are interesting in craft beer and dont know where to begin, I would open with this one, just to take the fear out of craft brewing, cause this is the least intimidating beer ive ever had.

Bottle, pretty boring version of a pretty boring style. Light roast, some nuttiness, caramel malts. Pretty blah

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a medium brown color with a large creamy tan head that lingered and left some lacing. The aroma was faint sour malts, moderate wood and a touch of vague fruit. The flavor was dryish, nutty and quite woody. The finish was long and woody. Medium body. Sup par.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 VTHopHead (1387) - Barre, Vermont, USA - MAR 11, 2011
Bottle/12oz - Catching up on some old ratings from notes for earlier this winter. Pours a copper red amber in color with a small off-white head. Aroma is light of roasted malts as well as both brown and candy sugar. Slightly sweet and nutty. Flavor is also slightly sweet with plenty of caramel and nutty malts with brown sugar. Very easy drinking...
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 puboflyons (1190) - Allenstown, New Hampshire, USA - JAN 17, 2011
On tap at the Barley House in Concord, New Hampshire USA. The pour was an amber brownish red with about a half inch of silky head. The aroma has a sweet maltiness and a bit of the yeast strain on the nose. There was a slightly brown nuttiness. The texture was smooth and comfortable on the mouth. A bitter or sharp taste.
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 williamstome (434) - Somerville, Massachusetts, USA - OCT 17, 2010
On tap at Church Street Tavern as "Church Street Tavern Ale"
Deep Amber with minimal head. Smells bad, with some malt. Flavor is dominated by malts and is a little bitter. Not much else to say about this.

Draft and bottles. Multiple tastings. (previous tastings from memory) Tasted this as part of a mix pack. Didn’t leave a lasting impression so may have to retaste this one.
