Commercial Description:
British brewers of colonial times utilized the preservative qualities of hops and alcohol to assure that their "pale ale" survived the long trip to colonial India. We believe this to be one of the HOPPIEST brews in the States. ENJOY!

I dig the hoppy aroma but the flavor seems a bit too bready (aka too many malts). The sticky citrus tones keep this one in the IPA bracket with some carbonation and dryness in its backbone. But flavor-wise, there is nothing mind blowing here. Not that its a horrible beer but it seems a bit unbalanced between the malts and the hops.

2009 Bottle. I’ll have to disagree with the label on this one...this is not one of the hoppiest brews in the States. That title would definitely go to Stone Brewing. Overall, not a bad IPA, but I simply don’t like the combination of hops in this brew. The different hops flavors seem to clash a bit, leaving an inappropriate amount of mouth-puckering bitterness. Appears cloudy orange-copper with a light white lacing on the glass. Enjoyable, just not the best balanced or most quaffable.

Nice amber/orange color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of hops, citrus and spice; Flavor of slightly bitter hops, citrus, some malt, and spice; The finish is only slightly bitter; Overall, a little on the light side for me - but ok.

Bottle. Cloudy golden color with small tight white head. Aroma is earthy with grass, grapefruit, orange, cereal, and lemon. Flavors of grapefruit, orange, biscuit and caramel. Salty. Slightly watery palate. Lingering bitterness. More toward American than English style. Solid East Coast IPA.

this is so close! i was hoping that this would be a good east coast IPA with a ton of hops like west coast IPA’s, but unfortunately, like so many other east coast brewers, this one was more of an english IPA than an american IPA, but i will say that it is close, just too much malt balance, an IPA shouldnt be balanced. long trail just needs to make this one a little more citrusy, and a little less malty and they have a very good recipe.

Location: 12 oz bottle from State Line, 11/9/09

Aroma: A slightly sour aroma, with notes of citrus and caramel
Appearance: Slightly hazy golden-yellow color with a fluffy white head
Flavor: The taste is mostly sour fruit and caramel malts, short bitter finish
Palate: A slightly thin mouthfeel with a relatively short duration
Overall Impression: It makes for an alright IPA, but it is not that great. It comes off more sour then it probably should. It doesn’t have they typical hop flavors you generally get with this style, but it makes for an OK beer.

Smooth, spicy, well-balanced IPA with a calming, lingering finish. Nice malty hints, what an IPA should be, good beer.

12oz bottle-Even for a original British ipa the 56 ibu’s are surprisingly hidden, citrus fruits are definitely present and plenty of malts balance this out..the unfiltered brew is true to the style which is nice..overall it has a pretty nice flavor, nothing big that stands out but still enjoyable.I’ll probably just try this once..
