COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Real India Pale Ale (IPA), as it was first brewed in the days of the British Empire, was not the carefully filtered brew that we call IPA beer today. The first IPAs were unfiltered and featured extra hops and higher strength as a preservative for the long trip from England to the colony of India. Our Traditional IPA ale is naturally carbonated, dry-hopped & unfiltered like the old days.

$1.60 bottle from Wine Warehouse, Charlottesville. Pours golden with half-inch of white head. Lagery aroma, grasses, copper, tin. Tastes of bitter grasses, a hint of lemon, light copper, and malts... horrid skunky aftertaste. Too lagery - no imagination or appreciation of the style.

Lite amber with small, quickly disappearing white head. Slight spicy aroma. Taste starts caramel then, quickly rising bitterness. The aftertaste is lingering.

Looks like the classic IPA: hazed copper body with a large tan head that lasts. Aroma is faint fruits (apricot mostly) and general beer along with some flowers. The flavor is sickly sweet caramel with some faint lingering bitterness. Nice thick body with frothy carbonation. Subpar IPA.

Very refreshing unfiltered IPA, pouring a hazy amber from a bottle. Fruity hop-forward flavor, some malty sweetness, and a very pleasant bitterness. Very good beer.

Pours a pale yellow with light white head. A light aroma of grains and light hops. A grainy and malty taste with light citrus hops. A lingering malt aftertaste, but not overwhelming.

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2015 From 12oz bottle (variety pack)

Aroma: loads of citrus hops, grapefruit

Appearance: Golden, hazy, white head

Taste: Medium Bitter

Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, average carbonation, long bitter and dry finish

Overall: Im really surprised by this beer. Its much better than I remember. Loads of "C" hops. Nice cirtus and grapefruit without overbearing grapefruitiness which I dislike. Nice body. Nice balance between hops and malt with a lot of hop forward aroma and taste. Stands up great as a Vermont IPA. Not overkill, but very nice and well balanced IPA with loads of American hops and a nice and easy to drink body.

Draft at Milkboy. Hazy orange gold pour with a modest amount of off-white foam that left quite a bit of lace. Big grassy floral citrus hops. Bittersweet orange zest and pith. Fresh oak planks. Dandelions. Honey tangerines. Resin. Thyme. Minor biscuit and bready wheat notes. Mostly a full frontal orange spice assault. Good.

Its okay. Nothing really crazy here. Pretty normal English Style IPA. Lots of grass and maltiness in the aroma. Theres a little bit of hoppiness but not a ton. Taste is alright. Pretty traditional as far as IPA goes. Thers a little bit of a lemon taste in this one. Overall its not bad, just kind of middle of the road. Im not a huge fan of the english style IPAs but I always give them a fair chance.

Drank from the bottle. Aroma consists of grass, citrus, and floral notes. Taste is citrus, hay, malt, and yeast. Comes across as an English IPA. The focus is more on the malts then the hops. Medium bitter beer with a smooth mouth feel moderate carbonation and a medium body. It is okay, nothing spectacular.
