3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JUN 23, 2014 This is one fine readily avail, IPA-- citrus, hops, pine, mild-moderate bitter finish to balance the fruit and hops--- nose is pine and cat piss (like a good sauvignon blanc), taste is light tropical fruit and pine with a flinty-gun-metal- finish...

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Tap. Hazy orange golden pour with a sticky white head. Aromas of tropical fruit, orange zest, caramel malts, and a touch of pine. Flavor is sticky and cloying. Heavy tropical fruit mixed with hot garbage. Unsettling to the stomach and I didn’t want any more. Huge astringency in the finish and overly bitter. Somewhat watery also. Meh

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours clear copper with visible carb and a big sticky white head that falls quickly, leaving its mark on the glass. Aroma is pretty fruity, lemon, pineapple, grapefruit and a touch of pine. Taste is pale and caramel malt backbone with a grapefruit bitterness. There’s a little orange sweetness in there too.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
I am intrigued by this beer boasting a new breed of hops, and made by a m-alt friendly brewer no less. Classic meaty grapefruit and sappy pine aroma. Glowing clear orange, all clear but for tiny suspension. By comparison the flavor is mellow: a long dry bitter citrus with a solid malty contrast. Slick body, not a palate slasher like some aggressive IPAs. Bottled 1-13-14, as fresh as can be.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle bought from the Vermont liquor outlet in mount snow. Was recommended as similar tasting to the "best iPa" in the world which is supposedly on a farm nearby. Good, hoppy, syrupy and flavorful. Remindse of the harpoon limited series leviathan ipa

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours deep, clear amber into a tulip. White head with medium retention recedes to nothing. Tropical fruit and resin aromas. Dry with sweet caramel, pineapple and mango upfront turning to bitter resin in the lasting finish.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at What Cheer Tavern - Providence, RI. I was goaded into trying this after I passed, because the first two words in the name of this beer are "Long Trail." Bandwagon jumping aside, this IPA just doesn’t really capture the same intensity and quality of hop aroma and flavor that contemporaries do. Pungently aromatic nose, a tiny bit catty, but mostly citrus and candy. The real disappointment for me is the mismatch between the aroma and the flavor. While the aroma booms, the flavor whispers and that’s where I feel let down. A truely pungent modern IPA would have as captivating flavor as it does aroma. The filtered appearance of this beer certainly lends to the loss of flavor and the above-average matliness contradict the desire to turn up the hop dankness. Moving on...
