Bottle marked 09/26/14. Nose tons of strong, fresh rind and tropical fruit, lovely citrus coating all over, some muskmelon and honeydew. Pours lightly hazy dull copper with slightly above-average carbonation and a large, sudsy yellow-tinged beige head. Taste sweet but not too sweet, superbly juicy, medium bitterness but still under balance, lots more melon an citrus in rind, light but rounding wood with a bit of a drying effect. Kiwi! Medium-full body, dash of alcohol showing but still enchained, faint spice, smooth with light crispness, refreshing above its bold flavors. Juicy, fruity flavor is just fantastic the whole way, kudos to Long Trail!

Juice juice juice!

Bottle poured a clear golden amber with a lasting ivory head. Aromas of biscuit, dank bud, earthiness and grapefruit. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of biscuit, dank bud, earthiness, pine and light grapefruit with a smooth dry bitter lingering dank finish.

one of the best IPAs I’ve had. has plenty of hops, almost as strong as a double/imperial. little bit more expensive than some other IPAs, but worth it.

Orange-brown color with small off white head. Aroma citrus and pine hops and some sweet malts. Medium body. Flavor is hoppy for sure but there is a good amount of bready malt here. The balance is good. Bitter up front with off dry finish. Usually not a huge fan of Long Trail but this is a good effort.

Transfer from BA review on 12-13-13- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours an orange amber color with the lightest bit of haze. Upon pouring there is a nice two finger head of thick white foam. The head has a wonderful level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave tons of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is big of tropical fruits and a good deal of hoppiness. The tropical fruits are heaviest of tangerine but also contain notes of mango, papaya and pineapple. The hop smells that are there are a mix of a grapefruit and floral smell with some light herbal and grassy notes. A bready and doughy smell rounds out the aroma, mixing with the rest to create a sweet and tasty hopped aroma. Taste – The taste begins much drier then the nose would have suggested with a moderately big dose of a cracker and biscuit malt taste as well as some earthy and grassy hop flavors. A small amount of caramel and fruit sweetness is present upfront with it fading relatively rapidly. While this occurs the hop flavors grow more intense in nature and are joined by some new coming hop flavors of a floral and grapefruit nature. With the loss of much of the sweet and the advent of even more hop, one is left with a somewhat unbalanced, drier, malty and fairly hoppy (mainly earthy and grassy) flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the medium side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is on the average side as well. Both are decent for the style and keep it a rather easy drinking brew even in lack of its balanced taste. Overall –Ah, nothing too fantastic here in my opinion. It was worth a try but is a bit too dry and unbalanced for me.
