2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
12oz bottle. Pours a clear light golden with almost no head. Mostly citrus and pepper and the citrus is closer to sour lemons than anything. OK lawnmower beer I guess but it’s not really working for me this time of year.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap in a shaker. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma of light malts, some dough, hints of spices/citrus, and floral hops. Flavor the same with a nice blend. Average to lighter texture. A decent beer for the style

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: FEB 21, 2014 Bottled January 13, 2014.
Appearance: A crystal clear golden body is topped by a tall and foamy white head that dissipates unevenly and messily. Excellent looking beer.
Aroma: The aroma has a sort of sulfur and citrus peel aroma that categorizes a witbier. In the background a hint of black pepper hits my nose, but I probably wouldn’t have noticed it if not looking for it.
Taste: Well this is simply an incredibly clean ale with a mild maltiness and a splash of lemon overlying it. The finish shows the black pepper the most, maybe a tad too prominent, though it’s barely there. I simply find black pepper out of place in a beverage. I do note black pepper lingering as well. This is quite enjoyable though.
Palate: Full-bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: This is a pretty mild but unique take on a style that I generally find boring. I am impressed with this, though the black pepper could be toned down just a notch. Very drinkable and it would be great on a hot day.

Bottle marked 01/13/14, so got this about as fresh as is possible from this location. Kudos to LT for calling it Kölsch- "style", even without the umlaut, though a big wag of the finger: can’t call this shiz Kölsch if you’re adding spices! Kölsch is not simply a lemon-pepper wit. Anyway, to the Stange: Nose of lemon cleanser and pale malt, some orange and miscellaneous highly-fruity (candy!) citrus, pours clear golden with plenty of carb and a short off-white head. Taste is firmly bitter and nicely bready, smooths out to a soft and more fully bready finish, after which the prickles of black pepper take over and ride out the rest of the aftertaste. Zesty fresh citrus. Very crisp light-medium body, malt taste is clean and generally OK, even refreshing, but the cleanser overtones are unshakable and there’s too much hot booze showing. I have the feeling I’d like this as a simple pleasure if not for the spice additions, which are the big problem here, style adherence or no.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Crisp, light, malty with a trailing finish. Hints of spice and citrus zest. A little bite, but a little trashy in the end. Interesting.

This looks like a kolsch. But it is very spicy compared to other beer s of the same style. Has a creamy palate
