3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 kkearn (1163) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 21, 2009
Draft, at Philly Craft Beer Fest. Pours medium amber, capped with a big tan head. Aroma is on the sweet side, with toffee, dried fruit, nuts, some citrus, and alcohol. Flavor is caramel up front, with citrus, brown sugar, and floral notes. Finishes with citric hops and alcohol. I’m a bigger fan of the Double Bag.

Tap at Blind Tiger. Aroma of huge, syrupy malts with berries and toffee, mildly earthy feel. Flavor again predominantly sweet with just that hint of earthy presence. On the cloying side. Ok.

Draft at Mugs. Flavors of a grape and caramel lollipop. Unvelieveable that this is 9.2%. One of the better LT beers I’ve had.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Cletus (6064) - Connecticut, USA - JAN 10, 2009
Pours ruby red with a thin pinkish head. Smells of sweet malt, some rosey hints. Tastes very malt forward with a lot of sweetness (in a good way). Basically an amped up version of the double bag.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Jsawyer (297) - Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 9, 2009
On tap. Poured clear dark ruby, light foamy white head. Nose is mainly licorice and dried fruits. Flavor is dominantly licorice, candi sugar, dried fruit, caramel, lightly chocolate. Way too sweet. Finish is overly alcoholic. No bitterness? Wouldn’t drink it again.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 tylerss20 (101) - New Hampshire, USA - JAN 7, 2009
Draft at Harlow’s in Peterboro, NH. Bam! Long Trail has been a reliable brew for me for a while, but I think they out did themselves. Medium amber pour, very light white crown. Damp, sweetish aroma. Fruity, almost as a Barleywine, but not as much hop attack. Fairly smooth, and some honey flavor too. Alcohol is detectable. Very strong Am. Strong ale.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Nate (3093) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 7, 2009
On tap at McMenamin’s. Mild sweet malt aroma with a bit of light honey and yeast. Dark amber clear with thin off-white lacing head. Medium heavy body with medium carbonation. Starts sweet with light malt sweetness and some golden raisins. Light sugar and caramel. A little to sweet for my tastes, with not enough bitter hops. Meh.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Rciesla (5498) - Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA - DEC 31, 2008
Draft at ginger man. Pours an amber body with a light off white head. Sweet with roasted caramel, actually just load of malt, a bit grainy, with some light hop bitterness to finish. Weird i thought this was going to be a trippel.
