COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Smooth dark ale...known for it’s mild bitterness and enticing aroma.

Note: the Nut Brown has replaced the Black River as the standard brown ale offering.

Had a month ago-on tap-pours a tan head with copper color. Aroma is soft medium malt. As it warms, some roasty/cocoa. Taste is roasty/cocoa-medium/dark malt, secondary citrus-orange/herbal tea hops.

On draft at the brewery. Amber color with a thin light head. Malt and a little grainy. Not much going on here.

Pours medium brown with small tan head. Aroma is toasted malts with some dark chocolate. Taste was sweet with a roasty backbone. Very light and easy to drink. Not sure why this says retired....

Pours a deeper brown with some amber notes and a medium creamy/bubbly off white head. Aroma of toasted malt, chocolate and nuts. Flavor had a nice toasted almost touch of roasted malt character, nuts and chocolate along with a nice touch of hop flavor and bitterness.

A light toasted grain nose, dark brown color and a head with very small bubbles. Roasted malt taste in the middle turns to burnt, tabacco flavors. A slight cardboard-like aftertaste, but overall smooth.

Malt roasted coffee, espresso nose. Nice dark brown body with hints of red. Brussels lace. Taste also espresso, roasted. Soapy finish though.
