Draft at brewpub. Pours black with white head. Nose/taste of roasted and burnt chocolate malt, flaked oats and hints of burnt nuts. Medium body.

Deep black. Malty. Sweet. Toasty. Decent porter. Could habve been a bit more complex. Best one I’ve had from them so far

Pint on tap at the brewpub in Long Valley. Dark brown color, minimal head, aroma is sweet, roasty, malty, and yeasty. Taste is strong sweet with some bitter, with good complexity. Great body, not watered down at all, somewhat creamy texture, with a sweet but crisp aftertaste. As mentioned in previous ratings, this is a great session beer and pairs up well with typical pub fare.

Pours a smooth dark, dark brown color with a khaki-colored head. Not too much head retention, just enough, and the full roasted nuttiness of the aroma is prevalent. Attack is crisp and toasty, but the full maltiness quickly is apparant, creamy body and a perfect hint of coffee on the back end. Wonderful porter, my favorite of this style to date! Get a growler to go :-)

This is probably as microbrew as you can get. This was at Long Valley Brew Pub. This is one of the best beers they have.

Appearance - Very dark amber in color. Almost no head, very little carbonation Smell - roasted caramel and earthy notes. Taste - smooth and mellow, coffee like with a hint of smoke Mouthability - light and mellow Drinkability - easy, I can drink several of these in one sitting Serving type: Growler / nitro-tap I like this beer because it goes down smooth. The abv is not listed but I expect it to be in the 5 range. Not hot at all but gives a nice buzz. I have tried all the beers Long Valley has produced in the past year. Several of them are good but this is my favorite. I had this from nitro-tap on their outdoor patio Sunday for lunch and brought home a growler. The only difference was the pint i had in a shaker at the brewery had more head than I’m getting off the growler just one day later.

on tap at the brewery. a great classic porter. This porter should be the universal model of all session porters. pitch black, smooth, nice head. Great drinkability.

UPDATED: MAR 21, 2010 Nice dark beer that goes down easy with dinner. Very similar mouthfeel and finish as Guinness. Leaves a somewhat bitter aftertaste. Have found that every batch is hit or miss at the Brew Pub, some are great and others are just average. On re-rate I need to up the rating as this is much better then a 3

Growler courtesy of balzac. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Smells of roasted malt, coffee. Tastes roasty and sweet with some hoppy undertones and a peppery finish.

(cask). Cloudy brown color. Small tan head. Malty aroma with light vinegar. Light sour and vinegar flavor. Avg duration. Finish has lasting sourness. Thin texture. Soft carbonation. Spare lacing.
