mkobes (2027), somewhere, New Jersey, USA Feb 22, 2004 Nice brown color. Thick brown head. Malty and hoppy. Pretty good. Lots of nutty flavors. Enjoyable. MaiBockAddict (1499), Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA Feb 13, 2004 Pours a clear light carmel color. Malty fruity aroma. Malty and camelly flavor with a
hint of hops. Sweet and drinkable. Jine (855), Nutley, New Jersey, USA Jul 3, 2004 I was fairly impressed by this. Malt and hops were good and definitely some nut flavors floating around. AdamSkillin (364), High Bridge, New Jersey, USA Jan 22, 2005 Preface: This is not my favorite beer style.
Review: An American Nut Brown that stands up well to its British counterparts. Really has that fruity-aleness that I guess drinkers find attractive about a nut brown as a darker beer style. A brilliant example of the beautiful brown but not red color that is the trademark of the style. TomDecapolis (2407), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 6, 2007 On tap at the brew pub. Pours a translucent amber with golden highlights…not brown and it had small bubbly lightly off white head. Aroma of light nuts, some toasted malts, caramel and citrus. Aroma on the light side. Flavor of lightly toasted malts, some nuts, citrus, hop flavor and light hop bitterness. Not sure how this won GABF in 2004 and 2005 in the brown ale category…doesn’t seem to fit the style exactly.
