This moderately hopped ale is our addtion to an expanding list of well-crafted Australian pale ales. Inviting aromas of apricot and peach, light to moderate bitterness and a biscuity malt background are the hallmarks of the ‘Longboard’. The unique style falls somewhere between English and American style Pale Ales. Liberal doses of American Cascade hops provide the distintive stone-fruit aromas. Crystal and wheat malts provide a light malt character creating a perfect backdrop to the fruity aromas. The ‘Longboard’ is an easy drinking beer that is both refreshing and flavoursome.

Bottle - hops aromas are there albeit fairly subtle. Hop and malt comes through in the taste. Its an OK beer, not as big as some pale ales.

From the bottle. Not much aroma, a little lemon. Light carbonation. Sweet, lightly lemon flavour. Almost no bitterness. Doesn’t really taste much like beer at all. However it is not unpleasant.

330ml bottle. Pours a hazy amber to orange colour with a white head that settles to an even layer of foam. Fruity aroma with lts of passionfruit and melon. Some sweetness in the flavour with a nice body and texture. A good all round beer. One of those that beers that you have no expectations about and they turn out to be vey good.

From a 330ml on 9/3/2012. ABV is listed as 4.5% rather than 4.8%. Pours a fairly clear golden with a biggish head. Has a slight sweet sour fruity aroma. The flavour is mainly sweet fruit, particularly orange, with a slightly tart citrus hop finish. Not quite sure what to make of this. It has some interesting elements but doesn’t quite come together sufficiently to make it a winner. I would also note that something’s amiss with some of the earlier ratings listed, as there are numerous references to it being a wit.
