2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Light slightly burnt nose. Nice dark colour but very light airy head. Flavour burnt with a sour sharpness that puts off other flavours. Finishes with lingering sour and bitterness. Not a fan.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
The pour was dark coffee coloured and it produced a huge head(might be my pouring style). Lots of lacing and the head settles to a regular sized tan colour. There is very little aroma even in a snifter glass but you can tell it’s a stout. The taste is of watery malt but is over ridden by a tobacco(as in ashtray) kind of experience. The mouth feel is thin. There is little to no bitterness to this drink and with the exception of the ash tray analogy, no after taste. I wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone who likes a decent stout.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle to pint glass
Black currant, toasted malt, molasses, sourness, and a little dark chocolate. Pours a silky black with a thin and moderately retentive mottled middling tan head. Taste is toasted malt, some molasses, nuts, chocolate and ending with coffee and very little hops. Drinkable, but not spectacular.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Good for what it is, this style of stout is still a wee bit heavy for me. Nonetheless, Stoutnik is a great entry level beer for those interested in exploring the foreboding russian imperial stout style.
Black as an endless abyss, minimal dark tan head. Aroma is sweetish with some milk chocolate, coffee and licorice scents thrown in. Taste is surprisingly gentle for this kind of stout; neither oily nor overly-molasses flavored, nor with the hop punch of Old Rasputin or Narwhal. Predominant milk chocolate and roasted barley flavor, with a licorice bite afterwards.
If you’re new to this style, give this one a whirl and then go on to deeper and darker things. If you’re local, the best way I could describe this is think Dark Matter x 2. Decent and forgiving for the russian style of stout.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at the Alibi Room, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma brings out light roasted malt upfront, and some bready notes. Flavour is pretty restrained, with notes of light toasted malt and very mellow cocoa notes. Light-bodied, but at least no off-notes. It’s okay, but leaves a lot to be desired.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Black color with creamy brownish head. Light aroma of roasted malt. Smooth mouthfeel; the body is lean, not much residual sugars; roasted malt flavor, balanced, not burnt or ashy, with a light milky touch; correct bitterness.
Not exciting but quite good; not exactly imperial, more like a "1½ Stout".
