Amber in colour. Some slight roasty notes with a nice crystal malt character. Definately a malt driven style, very easy drinking. This is my first beer from the Lord Nelson, one I’ve wanted to try for quite a while and I enjoyed it, well brewed, good beer.

Pleasantly suprised with how smooth and drinkable the beer was. Poured Amber brown with a creamy tan head, a slight creamy sweet aroma, sweet taste with little bit of a bitter finish.

Bottle in Sydney.

Brown ale, quite disappointing. A bit sweet, nuts and agar, undercarbonated.

Bottle. Average off white head over a clear dark brown body. Aroma and taste-herbal spicey, bread, molasses. Oily, bitter-sweet, balanced. Surprisingly good.

Pours dark copper with ruby tints and a small head. Nose shows faint malt with caramel and dark confectionery notes but unfortunately there’s a metallic hint. Later on some darker toasty notes become apparent. Flavours are more focussed towards dark malt than the aroma with plenty of nutty chocolate malt but are still very sweet. Some spicy hops are noticeable and are followed by a gentle bitterness with some roasted character. Carbonation is too high for the flavours in my opinion.

Cola coloured pour with a thin, biege head. Roasted touches to the aroma. Slight coffee, toffee and roasted nut touches. I like it.

From a 330ml bottle on 8/3/2010. Note the label on my bottle states the Alc/Vol is 6.1% rather than 6.7%. Has a rather subdued malty aroma which doesn’t give much of a hint to the flavour to come. There is a lot happening when it hits the mouth - roasted (almost burned) malt, chocolate, a hint of nuts, and a curious dash of lemon. Some sweetness balanced by a good whack of bitterness. Not too bad at all.

Great nutty flavours coming off a dark, slightly hazy body with a persistent light tan head that coats the glass. Nice coffee, subtle chocolate flavours and an almost but not quite lactic tang on the finish. A fine beer and 6.7% you say...worth every penny.

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2012 Bottle from Parkhill cellars and tap at the Local Taphouse. Great nose, complex beer. Aromas are roasted malt, cola, cherry, leather, and hints of copper and spice. Taste is sweet with bitter notes, and average length. Silky palate, and medium body. Brown colour, with a thin and frothy head.
