Clear copper color with a dense white head. Spicy and floral hops up front with a little bit of grass. Sweet toast and bready malt notes, mild earth, and some hints of solvent. There is a lot of grass, earth, and spice to the hop profile, a bit of citrus peel, some solvent, and a light bitterness. A bit of bread and toasted malt.

From sampler at the brewpub, Los Gatos, CA, 17/08/12. Brassy gold with a frill of lace. Nutty sesame aroma and taste; slight oiliness, breadstick, clinging bitterness. Slight lemon zest and leafiness as it warms.

SamGamgee (2452) - down the whirlpool, California, USA - JAN 6, 2010
Draught at the brewpub. Dark gold with a touch of orange and a lasting, medium-sized white head. Pungent, resiny grapefruit aroma with some other fruity accents and a little crackery malt. The flavor is pretty hoppy for a pale, with lots of grapefruit peel and lemon hop flavors and a bitter finish with nice supporting light malt character. The malt is a little crackery but doesn’t really have any caramel or darker flavors. Seems to be in the vein of snpa but with more hops and a little more sweetness to balance. Finishes dry but with plenty of body and some prickly carbonation. Solid west coast style pale ale that displays a lot of that classic "c" hop flavor and one of the better beers that I have had here.

illidurit (2126) - Petaluma, California, USA - DEC 7, 2008
Draft at the brewpub. Golden caramel color with an off white head leaving filmy wet lacing. Aroma is grapefruit rind and pale malt. Flavor is soapy citrus hops, pale malt, light bitterness. Could use some caramel malt, pretty one dimensional. Dry finish, medium thin body. Drinkable but very run of the mill.

bb (6797) - Alamo, California, USA - AUG 13, 2008
Draft. Amber beer with a whitish head. Low citrus/pine aroma. Big grapefruit/pine flavor with nice bitterness. Medium body. Big grapefruit lingers with pine and low malt. Big PNW hops - no aroma hops, but big on the flavor/bitterness.
