Amber lager with caramel, toast and pine aromas, a balanced malt and hop flavor, and a quick finish. Mouth feel is light, almost watery, although not as much so as their Pale Ale. A nice, refreshing beer.

(on tap) Clear copper, good head. Little aroma: subtle but pleasant - malt and tea perhaps. Excellent mouthfeel. Medium body; smooth, almist creamy, from fine plentiful carbonation. Flavour is rich with a honey sweet malt to start and a good long bitter finish. An excellent beer.

Samples at Los Gatos Brewery. Amber hue with nice head and lovely carbonation. Aroma of caramel malt and some hops. Full, very crisp, creamy body. Peppery hops dominate caramel malt in the mouth. Long, dry finish. Too hoppy for Octoberfest but still good brew.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 RunDWP (203) - San Jose, California, USA - OCT 27, 2008
On tap. Reddish brown color and some lacing on the glass. Some caramel malt and the same grassy, straw hop bitterness on the finish that they had in the pilsner and the pale ale. Had a rather smooth, almost silky character that one doesn’t usually find in an Oktoberfest, but otherwise, not a very strong examle of the style.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 SamGamgee (2452) - down the whirlpool, California, USA - JUN 28, 2008
Draught at the brewpub. Reddish-brown color with a small, quickly dissipating head that leaves some foam settled around the glass. The aroma was initially quite metallic, but mellowed into a slight caramelized toasty maltiness after awhile. The flavor has some caramel and light tea going on. Pretty clean, just a little sweet, and has a little too much carbonation. Liked the malty flavor, but the hard mineral-metal aspect was a little weird.

UPDATED: JAN 12, 2008 Solid Marzen, nothing special or unique but good all around. Compares favorably to Oct offerings from major micro players.
Second tasting about about a year later. Even better the second time around. LGBrewing has definitely improved.
