Commercial Description:
From the French word "Garde" meaning something worth keeping, this Farmhouse Styled Ale is a most delicious companion to a loaf of freshly baked bread from the oven. Grab a seat on the porch, some soft cheese and a tree ripened apple from your grandmother's old orchard. Relax and watch the evening arrive as the afternoon sun is consumed by the illuminating moon over the gardens. We brewed Avant Garde for you, our friends and families. Here's to things worth guarding over. http://www.lostabbey.com

Bottle. Orange pour, with little head ring most of the way during drinking. Gentle aroma and gentle on the palate with a little bite. Very mellow beer. Enjoyed.

Glorious orange pour. Medium weight malty ale. Mostly dry, but with a gentle hoppy edge. The aroma starts out nice and floral, and then turns meaner. AG is a nice farmhouse brew, but not too exciting really (like most bieres de garde). Some brown sugar and nutty notes. Mellow mouthfeel creates a bit of contrast with the light bitterness. A solid brew, in a bottle that was pretentiously adorned with a champagne cork (that took a while to remove).

Bottle from Beermerchants.com. Glowing orange, hazy. Intricate spicy and fruity aroma. Plums and spices flavours, even hints of chocolate. Good balance. A nice Belgian-style strong ale.

Bottle - Hazy dark orange color. Light head and lacing. Bit lighter nose than similar beers. Light mouth feel with fruit flavors and a hint of bitterness with no alcohol flavor. Good beer.

Bottle from Sam’s, I think. Pours a very nice orange color, decanted it is pretty clear. Nose is malty, some candy and molasses, a touch of maple. On taste, it’s polarizing. I dig the sweeter, clean notes with a refreshing bitterness, though at times it seems a bit hot. Overall, it’s a pretty nice rendition of a BdG. Interesting.

Bottle 25.4 oz. Split with James. Pours murky orange with a thick, white head. Aroma of pineapple, sweert malts, cutrus, clove, and hints if barley. No lacing. Interesting, smooth mouthfeel. No traces of alcohol. Great brew.,

Bottle split with Pat. Pours a hazy orange amber body with small white head. Aroma is slight farmhouse funk, spice, malt, and some sugar. The taste is very smooth, well balanced, medium to light mouth feel. Flavor dominated by notes of spice and esters.
