pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA Jun 4, 2008 4-11-08 and 6-1-08 bottles both shared at tastings (thanks Humulone Red)
Semi clear orange. Smell is sugary sweet. Flavor is spiced and somewhat watery fruit. Medium body with an average mouthfeel overall. Overall, not too terribly impressed. travita (1851), Frisco, Texas, USA Jun 4, 2008 Amber colored with not too much head. Apple, nutmeg, other fruits, and fruit punch in the smell. Taste has some alcohol, fruit, apple, some spices. Pretty good. GeneralGao (3051), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Jun 3, 2008 750ml bottle. Poured a clear light orange color. Head was bubbly and white which reduced gradually to a thin foam. Aroma was of yeasty bread dough and sugar cookie with a hint of orange. Dry and effervescent on the tongue with a splash of alcohol. There weren’t any particularly strong flavors. I tasted a bit of citrus, light alcohol, white pepper, and biscuity malt. Some mild bitterness emerged at the end. slimchill (773), Austin, Texas, USA Jun 2, 2008 Bottle. Spicy yeast nose, very bready. Clear gold with a thin bubbly white head. Very sweet and unbalanced, spice in the finish. Dry palate, not particularly drinkable. Naka (524), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA May 26, 2008 Pours a golden orange color with a frothy eggshell colored head. The nose is a sour yeast with a little bit of dirty sock funk, pepper, and a hint of straw. Mild flavor, smooth with some meaty fullness, but a slight sweetness. Has a really strong bitterness that actually gets stronger after you drink it. A pretty rich mouthfeel with a sort of buttery feel. thewolf (5633), Kolding, Denmark May 24, 2008 Bottle @ Kolding Bryglaug Americans tasting.
[thank you, Boutip!]
Pours clear golden with a small, creamy, white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, apples, light citric hops and yeast. Fine and light mouthfeel. Flavour is wonderfully complex, very dry, fine, light anise, some citric notes, good yeast and malty sweetness. Lightly warming. Good example of the style. chrisafari (100), Orange, California, USA May 23, 2008 On tap at Port Brewing/Lost Abbey in San Marcos. Pours coppery orange brown. No real head. Super intense sweet aroma of yeast and bread. Starts off sweet and smooth and ends with a slightly spicy complexity. SQNfan (591), Wheaton, Illinois, USA May 22, 2008 This pours apricot in color with a thick head of medium-sized white bubbles that fades continually. Aromas were of orange, dough, lemon, herbs and spice. In the mouth it is medium-bodied with lots of carbonation. The palate is round and rich with a bitter bite on the finish. The flavors show off the bread dough with the other flavors from the nose taking the back seat. This was a well-balanced beer with nothing out of place.
