COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
From the French word "Garde" meaning something worth keeping, this Farmhouse Styled Ale is a most delicious companion to a loaf of freshly baked bread from the oven. Grab a seat on the porch, some soft cheese and a tree ripened apple from your grandmother's old orchard. Relax and watch the evening arrive as the afternoon sun is consumed by the illuminating moon over the gardens. We brewed Avant Garde for you, our friends and families. Here's to things worth guarding over. http://www.lostabbey.com

Bottle at Nikos, with friends. Pour is slightly hazy orange with a big white head and great lacing. Bready, cereal, caramelly, fruity, tangy, grassy, and doughy aroma. Taste is fruity, straw, cracker, light pepper, bready, doughy, and grassy with a dry finish. Medium mouthfeel with high carbonation. Tasty - just not my favorite style.

UPDATED: NOV 23, 2013 What a wonderful brew. This hits on every angle. A true European styled bier de mars. I can think of a thousand things to eat alongside this elegant craft. Cheese, grilled veggies, charcuterie... Hot dogs. Thank you Lost Abbey!

Taster at brewery. Pours golden with a white head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. A bit of yeast on the nose. Kind of fruity on the tongue. Has a bit of hop bite on the tongue. I’m not sure I get the baking bread vibe but its solid.

On draft at Pizzacato in San Diego. Pours deep golden, clear, with a big creamy white head. Hay aroma, some yeast, with light pale malt sweetness. Flavor is very light hay and hops, again with light malt honey sweetness. Does not finish particularly clean or crisp, and there is lingering yeast on the palate. relatively light bodied with medium carbonation. This tasted much like a standard Helles lager to me when I was expecting a bit more farmhouse and light yeasty goodness. Only OK in my book.
