stefanje (937), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Sep 30, 2007 Updated: Oct 5, 2007750 ml bottle. Poured a cloudy unfiltered yellow gold color with an ample sudsy white head that had plenty of lacing and faded very slowly. The aroma was faint with citrus, a trace of spice, some alcohol and hops. The flavor was more appealing than the aroma, the taste was reminiscent of a good saison with a smattering bitter hops added. I taste grass, hay, biscuit, and citrus. Mouthfeel was full and satisfying. Finish was medium in duration, dry, astringent, and biter. Overall this is a fine brew. Recommended. AgentSteve (1334), SF Bay Area, California, USA Sep 26, 2007 Updated: Sep 28, 2007From the bottle, pours hazy orange, like peach juice. Very full, white frothy head that diminshes to frothy lacing all over the glass. Aroma is a bit citrus, pine and yeast. Flavor is quite different than expected, with some nice hop and smooth malt, a little earthy, with a bit of a viscous mouthfeel that finishes sweet yet clean. Make sure you have someone to share the 750Ml bottle with, it’s a lot to drink in one sitting.
Not one of my favorite Lost Abbey brew, but I have yet to have one I didn’t like. hopscotch (5437), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Sep 26, 2007 Bottle... Hazy golden ale with a mid-sized, fizzy, white head. Spicy, grainy nose delivers essences of pale malt mash, coriander, corn, honey and gentle notes of fuzzy fruit. Sweet, grainy flavor with an afterthought of light hop and alcohol bitterness. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Sweet, grainy finish. Thanks to ughsmash for providing the bottle! johnadam2002 (529), Hainesport, New Jersey, USA Sep 26, 2007 Poured hazy yellow with white head. Aroma of bread and citrus. Good citrus flavors with some bread and has a spice finish. OKBeer (1159), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Sep 20, 2007 Sample from 750 ml bottle courtesy JoeMcPhee. Pale golden colour with a mostly lasting fizzy and frothy off-white head. Lightly spicy, french bread, yeasty, and citrus aroma. Orange, caramel, bread, and light yeast flavours with a nutty, yeasty, earthy, and lightly metallic bitter finish, plus a touch of alcohol. Medium bodied, soft, creamy, and smooth mouthfeel. Good stuff. mtoast (290), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 18, 2007 75cL bottle, imbibed on 9/18/07 after some bomb ass sushi in Dana Point. Poured into a trusty Long John Silver’s Schooner Mug (big thanks to the rents for having such a fine drinking vessel on hand), deep goldenrod color with stark white rocky foam that leaves great lacing. Aroma is chock full of ripe fruits, little bit of apple, maybe some peach in there too. Flavor is pretty dead on for the style, maybe a little less in your face than some of the other BDG I’ve had, lots of ripe fruits, good bit of red skinned apples, little bit of spiciness in the finish. Very nice, nowhere near as much of a muddled mess as I was expecting unclemattie (2370), Georgia, USA Sep 18, 2007 750mL bottle. Light amber / golden color. Nice white foamy head. Aroma of fruity tartness. Bready malt flavors followed by a very dry tartness. hellomynameis (794), Mayer, Minnesota, USA Sep 14, 2007 light yellowish colour with a thin spotty head of barely off white. Light lemon aroma. The flavour isn’t huge, though I didn’t expect it to be. Its hard to describe this one, light and refreshing, has a bit of a strange bitterness at the end.
